The 2000GEOTRACKER carries 8 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 2 crashes, 0 fires, 2 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2000 TRACKER is suspension with 1 filings, followed by tires (1) and steering (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

No open NHTSA investigation overlaps the 2000 TRACKER in the current dataset. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. EXCESSIVE FRONT CROSSMEMBER CORROSION WHICH LED TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE LEFT FRONT SUSPENSION WITH NO WARNING. THE FRONT PICKUP POINT FOR THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE FREE OF THE CROSSMEMBER WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE LEFT THE ROAD AND ENTERED A DITCH. NO DAMAGE OTHER THAN THE CORROSION DAMAGE TO THE SUSPENSION MOUNTING POINTS. THIS HAPPENED ON A STRAIGHT, LEVEL COUNTRY ROAD WITH A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. HAD THIS HAPPENED 5 MINUTES LATER I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON I-74 TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. IN ORDER TO REPAIR THIS I WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE COMPLETE SUSPENSION ON BOTH SIDES, REMOVE THE STEERING RACK, REMOVE THE RADIATOR AND REPLACE THE CROSSMEMBER WITH A NEW PART. PART IS AVAILABLE, AND AT THIS POINT FAILED PARTS ARE STILL INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. *JB
