The 2000FORDSUPER DUTY F SERIES carries 4 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 0 crashes, 0 fires, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2000 SUPER DUTY F SERIES is engine and engine cooling:engine:other fuel types:turbo/supercharger with 1 filings, followed by engine and engine cooling:engine:diesel (1) and power train (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 177 investigation files overlapping the 2000 SUPER DUTY F SERIES, and 8 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

I OWN A 2000 FORD F350 SUPERDUTY POWERSTROKE 7.3L DIESEL 2WD. EVERYTHING ON THE VEHICLE IS STILL FACTORY, NO CHIPS, MOD'S ETC.. THERE IS 107,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON THE TRUCK. NO NEW ENGINE. I DROVE MY TRUCK 20 MILES OUTSIDE OF TOWN AND LUCKILY I WAS ON A BACKROAD GOING THRU A SMALL TOWN, BETTSVILLE, OHIO AND WHEN I WENT THRU THE INTERSECTION LIGHT JUST A SHORT DISTANCE FROM THE INTERSECTION THE TRUCK JUST DIED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO POWER STEERING TO STEER THE TRUCK OUT OF TRAFFIC. POWERTRAIN NOT RESPONDING TO AUTOENGINUITY SCAN SOFTWARE. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK STARTED IN OVER A YEAR NOW. I THANK GOD THAT I WASN'T ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65-80 MILES AN HR. AND THIS TRUCK STOPPED AS I KNOW THERE IS NO WAY TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND KILLING MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. PRIOR TO THIS BREAK-DOWN 4 YRS. BACK, I WAS DRIVING AROUND A CURVE COMING HOME AND WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES MY FOOT WENT TO THE FLOOR. NO BRAKES! AFTER FRONT AND REAR BRA
