The 2024FORDRANGER carries 67 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 2 crashes, 0 fires, 3 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2024 RANGER is electrical system with 11 filings, followed by power train (11) and structure:body (5). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 11 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle, the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 177 investigation files overlapping the 2024 RANGER, and 8 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page, a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Ranger. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V597000 (VISIBILITY); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was unavailable.
I received a letter several months ago for: Manufacturer Recall Number25C41 NHTSA Recall Number25V541 I called the Ford dealership to schedule the recall repair and they told me parts were not available. I explained to them I had a recall letter stating parts were now available and to schedule the repair. The dealer said they had the parts on order and they have not received any yet. I asked them if I could get put on their schedule for when parts came in and they agreed. They said they would call me as soon as they had parts to make the repair. Meanwhile, I received another recall letting from Ford saying parts are available, please schedule the repairs. I have been calling Ford recall hotline and the Ford dealership for over two months trying to get the safety recall repairs completed. They will not fix my compromised airbags and I am not getting any support from Ford to get this resolved.
I came up to a stop sign on a snow cover highway. When I applied the brakes my ABS brakes came on, but instead of slowing down, I felt the vehicle accelerating instead. I was pushed into the middle of the intersection and involved in an accident. An accident report was filed with the state of Wisconsin. No injuries occurred. I mentioned the problem to the Ford dealer, but they said there was no recall notice on file. An insurance adjuster inspected the damage to my vehicle last week. I have made an appointment with a body shop in February. I have not driven the vehicle since the accident. There were no warning messages before the accident.

I am the original owner of this vehicle and the engine and controls have not been modified in any way. Yesterday while driving at approximately 30 mph on a surface street with dry road conditions in the â2Hâ setting on the Drive Modes Selection Dial my truck spontaneously shifted into four-wheel drive high and then attempted to switch into four-wheel-drive low â âRock Crawl Mode.â The rear differential locked, speed was suddenly reduced, and the steering became more difficult. Luckily, I was able to safely pull over. I captured a video at this time documenting the control settings and display image. It took multiple attempts, even in Park and Neutral, to get out of 4WD and back into the 2H setting. Once back in 2H, the truck drove normally. I have had similar experiences at least twice before in this truck with months between them. In those cases, I wondered if I had accidentally bumped the dial control. I am certain that this was not the case yesterday, so this wa

I purchased a Ford Ranger truck with an EPA/NHTSA fuel economy label stating 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, 22 mpg combined. In reality, despite proper maintenance, the vehicle achieves only 16.26 mpg combined and as low as 14.72 mpg in city. While I understand fuel economy varies, this discrepancy is significant and may pose safety concerns. I relied on accurate fuel economy estimates to plan trips and refueling. This overstated MPG has lead me to unexpected fuel depletion, and stranding me in an unsafe condition (ran out of gas on HWY 287). I request NHTSA review whether Fordâs labeling practices meet regulatory standards and whether corrective action is warranted. I have taken the Ford Ranger to two different dealerships. One, Ford Automation, Frisco, Texas, refused to investigate what might be the issue, as they stated that was normal for the Ford Ranger. The second dealership, Five Star Ford, Dallas, Texas, reported in their tests they were averaging 26.1 mpg, combined. They d

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while reversing, the differential indicator independently moved, and there was an abnormal sound coming from the transmission. The abnormal sound could be heard for a short while, and then the sound dissipated. The contact stated the sound could be heard intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,200.

while driving between 5-10 MPH on a dry, smooth paved road, the transmission began cycling through 4WD modes and began shifting from normal mode to 4WD Sand mode, i was able to pull over and park, but the transmission continued shifting and fully transitioned to 4WD mode. This is the second time it has occurred, the first time the transmission fully switched 4WD and i was barely able to pull off the road to reset it. after first issue, dealership noted the following "3131 confirmed concern. pulled codes with FDRS and found P05D3 in ABS module. Referred to workshop manual and run pinpoint test AH for concern. AH1 yes. AH2 had me reconfigure ABS module with As-Built data rerun self test. No codes returned and system operating correctly at this time." There multiple online forums with owners having the same problem. https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/threads/24-rr-shifted-while-driving.18956/ Truck will be going to dealership for assessment again.

Why hasn't Ford found replacement parts for this airbag defect. I don't feel safe driving a car that may cause more injury to my person if I'm in an accident. This should fixed immediately. Or I would like to return my vehicle for full refund or get a new one with out safety issues.
I have had the truck for 2 weeks. Three times I've almost rearended a car in front because of a braking system that doesn't stop the truck quickly enough. The pedal will travel 6" at times before it engages. This is very dangerous especially when braking when travelling around curves or round a bouts. I've taken the vehicle to two dealers and an independent brake shop. Dealers say it's normal. Independent brake shop warned against driving the truck. Town and Country stated that the pedal going to the floor is normal. No warning prior to this incident.
