The 2025FORDMAVERICK carries 23 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 2 crashes, 2 fires, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2025 MAVERICK is forward collision avoidance: warnings with 4 filings, followed by electrical system (3) and engine (2). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 9 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle, the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 177 investigation files overlapping the 2025 MAVERICK, and 8 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page, a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

While flat towing in Neutral Tow Mode yesterday, [XXX] (appx. I was able to safely get to the right shoulder within about 100-yards. We were 18-miles into the 104-mile journey to our home from the RV park in San Dimas. (Level ground.) I then got in the Maverick, placed my foot on the brake, started it and shifted to Park to take it out of Neutral Tow Mode. (It started right up)â¨I then received an error message on the display âElectronic Parking Brake needs servicingâ I then unhooked the Maverick from the motorhome and successfully backed it up 50-yards along the shoulder and then drove it forward, the drive train seemed to be fine. I got out of my truck this morning once I arrived at work and the parking brake function unavailable message came on. I got back in and started the vehicle and Parking Brake Unavailable, Advanced Trac unavailable, Hill Descent Assist unavailable, ABS unavailable, and Forward Collision/ Lane-Keeping System unavailable messages were all on dash. Attempted to take my truck to Ford of Murfreesboro as there is a recall that is out on this issue for some 2025 Maverick EcoBoost trucks, even though it doesn't show up on my VIN, all symptoms on the recall I am experiencing. Ford of Murfreesboro service personnel was rude from the start and when I told them I didn't have an appointment, but feel like this is a safety concern they were quick to tell me it would be over a week before they could even look at it, and even if I had an appointment, it wouldn't be looked at for a week. Worst experience I have ever had with a dealership, and I will be an advocate that people DO NOT bring their vehicle t

Front driver airbag did not deploy. Vehicle has been totaled and may not be available for inspection. Driver seatbelt tightened requiring an X-ray due to chest pains. Ford has ignored complaint. Unsure if police or insurance inspected though both questioned the airbag not deploying.

Pre-collision system became unavailable. System reported camera obstruction, but windshield was clear. Similar to issues in August 2025. August issue was temporary fixed via software update and reset at dealership. Suspect recurring software or physical issue with safety equipment.
Precollision assist became unavailable twice while driving during my first few days of driving.
In the first week with only 107 miles, the brakes failed 3 times at very low speeds. Once while backing out and no brakes at all. 2 days later while turning a corner in a parking light they totally failed and I just missed hitting a car. And the 3rd time when I was trying driving out of the Ford dealership they failed and I hit the dealership truck and damaged both vehicles. They didnât believe me until I took it to the garage and parked it. Then they started it up it had no brakes.
2025 2.0l Maverick 8f-35 auto trans. on cold start after sitting overnight transmission hesitates to engage and/or shifts harshly on 1st drive of the day so far. Most noticeable on 1-2 upshift. Feels like engine rpm flares or transmission skips before changing gear. Conditions repeat almost daily on first drive from cold start. I am concerned about long-term transmission damage and safety when pulling into traffic. I'm aware this and other issues have been acknowledged by Ford in prior TSBs-the same 8f-35 transmission has rough shifting in 2022-2024 documented by programs like 22B38 and 25-2127. Dealer stated after visit that no problem found and had "never heard of a Maverick doing this". there is under 700 miles on the vehicle.
