Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2006 LCF is fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings with 1 filings, followed by electrical system (1) and engine and engine cooling:engine:diesel (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 177 investigation files overlapping the 2006 LCF, and 8 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

TOOK HOME STILL HAD ISSUES THE NEXT DAY. TOOK BACK THEY REVISITED EVERYTHING AND EVEN CONTACTED FORD IN DETROIT. THEY WEREN'T SURE WHAT WAS WRONG THEY THINK IT IS THE FUEL GAUGE. THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER ON IN BUT THEY ARE NOT SURE WHEN THEY WILL HAVE PARTS TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. (NO TIME FRAME). THERE RESPONSE TO ME WAS FILL UP AND WATCH GAUGE AND YOUR MILEAGE. THAT EASY TO SAY WHEN THEY ARE NOT PAYING FOR GAS. FILLED UP TODAY AS SOON AS I GOT DONE MY GAUGE WENT TO BELOW EMPTY, AND MY IDIOT LIGHT CAME ON. MY CONCERN IS WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON YOU CAN'T TELL HOW MANY MILES YOU HAVE TRAVELED, AND WHETHER WILL THE TRK WILL SHUT OFF BY THE COMPUTER READING THAT THERE
