Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2022 F-59 is engine with 2 filings, followed by forward collision avoidance: adaptive cruise control (1) and forward collision avoidance: warnings (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 4 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 177 investigation files overlapping the 2022 F-59, and 8 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Vehicle has had electrical issues since purchased new. Ford service center could not fix after several attempts. Customer service/ warranty was unhelpful. All issues surfaced prior to 60k miles. Has had about 6 battery replacements in less than a year. Now at 68k miles vehicle has been at shop for weeks and being told a new engine is needed. Ford shop services commercial vehicles but wonât replace engine. Vehicle has to be transported to another ford shop for repair. One of the engine issues identified was lifters. From other FedEx contractors and Ford service shops and dealers, this had become a common issue with the 7.3 engine but is not yet a recall issue. My vehicle has low miles and low idle time yet needs a new engine. We need some intervention with Ford, who is not holding itself accountable.
