WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 301 THRU STARKE, FLORIDA, IN MY MOTOR HOME, IN A 30 MPH ZONE, THE ENGINE STOPPED. ALL ELECTRIC WAS LOST, AS A RESULT, POWER STEERING, AND POWER BRAKES FAILED. FORTUNATELY I WAS GOING SLOW ENOUGH TO MAKE A CONTROLLED STOP. I NOTIFIED 911 AND THEY DISPATCHED THE STARKE POLICE TO PROVIDE TRAFFIC CONTROL, AS MOTOR HOME WAS BLOCKING A TRAVEL LANE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MURRAY FORD IN STARKE, FLORIDA. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROL UNIT FAILED. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THE PART WAS NOT READILY AVAILABLE, AND THERE WOULD BE A LONG TIME DELAY, FOUR MONTHS, BEFORE A NEW ONE IS AVAILABLE. I BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION BECAUSE THAT PART MUST BE FAILING AT A SIGNIFICANT RATE, AND MAY REQUIRE AN INVESTIGATION. *TR
