TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-450. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN NEVADA WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO THE REPAIRED. A COMPLETE DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK AND REPAIRED AN UNKNOWN FAILURE. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHEN IT WAS STARTED AND THEN HAD TO RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A THIRD INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED EIGHT INJECTORS. THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED FOR A WHILE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED ANOTHER TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. IN 2006 34,918 MILES FORD HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP ON MY 2005 F450 TRUCK. THEY ALSO REPLACED THE INJECTORS SEVERAL TIMES ALSO REPLACED THE TURBO. THEY HAVE FOUND RUST IN THE SYSTEM, THIS IS CAUSED FROM THE LINER IN THE TANK HAS FALLEN APART. THE TRUCK RUNS REAL BAD, BUCKING AND LOSING POWER. THE MILEAGE ON THE TRUCK NOW IS 125000. I HAVE CHANGED MY FUEL FILTER MANY TIMES AND WITHIN MINS AFTER CHANGING THE BUCKING STARTS. I LIVE IN THE SAN FRANCISCO AREA AND I KNOW THEY REGULATE THE FUEL. THE SHOP WANTS $4000.00 TO CHANGE MY INJECTORS, THEN $2100.00 TO CHANGE THE TANK. THIS IS SAID WHEN A FUEL TANK FALLS APART IN SIDE AND THEY WANT YOU TO PAY THE COST. I PAID $50000 WHEN I BOUGHT THIS F450. I KNOW I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER FORD PRODUCT IF I HAVE TO PAY THIS BILL. MY 3 GMC TRUCKS ARE RUNNING GREAT, AND SO WAS OUR DODGE. THE MECHANIC VERIFIED THE NOISE COMING FROM THE BELL HOUSING AREA. HE REMOVED THE TRANSMISSION AND FOUND THE FLYWHEEL BOLTS LOOSE, WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FLYWHEEL AND TORQUE CONVERTER. MY 2005 F-450 BEGAN LOSING POWER. I TOOK IT IN TO A DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED,(STILL UNDER WARRANTY). THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE FUEL TANK IS COMING APART INSIDE. THE TANK IS LINED INSIDE WITH A SHEET OF ALUMINUM. THE ALUMINUM IS COMING APART INSIDE THE TANK AND CLOGGING THE FUEL SYSTEM. SO THE DEALERSHIP SAID I NEED A NEW FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, INJECTOR PUMP, AND NEW FUEL INJECTORS. THIS TANK IS DEFECTIVE. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN THESE TRUCKS SINCE 1999-2008. FORD KNEW THIS WAS HAPPENING. FORD HAS HAD THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. NOW THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $4200.00 TO FIX, EVEN UNDER WARRANTY. DEALERSHIP SAYS FORD WILL NOT COVER THERE DEFECTIVE PART. I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO DRIVES THIS TRUCK, ALWAYS USE PUMP FUEL NO BIODIESEL EVER.
