TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1992 FORD F-350. WHILE FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL WAS TRANSFERRING TO THE REAR FUEL TANK AND OVERFLOWING. THE FAILURE CAUSED FUEL TO LEAK OUT ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KALISPELL FORD, IN KALISPELL MT 59901, BUT THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 93V125000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE DEFECTIVE CHECK VALVE WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY CAUSES A PORTION OF THE UNUSED FUEL FROM ONE TANK TO BE RETURNED TO THE SECOND TANK. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE CAPACITY OF THE SECOND TANK CAN BE EXCEEDED, CAUSING FUEL SPILL. SPILLED FUEL CAN RESULT IN A FIRE WHEN EXPOSED TO THE SOURCE OF IGNITION. *AK THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT UNDER THE RECALL. *NM

AFTER STOPPING TO INVESTIGATE FOUND LEFT FRONT TIRE BLOWN OFF WHEEL,BRAKE LINE SEVERED, RUNNING BOARD MISSING AND CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO LEFT DOOR AND FENDER. PUT ON SPARE THEN PROCEEDED TO PALMYRA, NE. FOR THE EVENING. JUST AFTER CROSSING IN TO WYOMING THE NEXT DAY ANOTHER LOUD REPORT AND THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. SAME TYPE OF TIRE AND SAME MILEAGE AS THE FRONT, ONLY THE BELT HAD WRAPPED AROUND THE AXLE AND LOCKED UP THE WHEEL. I HAVE THIS TIRE, WHAT IS LEFT OF IT ANYWAY. CONDITIONS ON BOTH OCCURANCES: CLEAR WEATHER, TEMPS IN THE MID TO HIGH 80 S, SPEED WAS 65 MPH, TRAFFIC MODERATE. TIRES WERE CHECKED AND INFLATED TO 50 PSI PRIOR TO DEPARTING BARTLETT, TN. TREAD WAS ABOUT 50% ON ALL FOUR TIRES OF THE MATCHED SET. IF VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN INSTEAD OF BEING TOWED, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS TO OCCUPENTS AND OTHER MOTORISTS IN BOTH INCIDENTS
