The 2024FORDF-250 SD carries 45 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 3 crashes, 1 fire, 2 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2024 F-250 SD is electrical system with 7 filings, followed by unknown or other (6) and power train (5). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle, the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 177 investigation files overlapping the 2024 F-250 SD, and 8 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page, a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

Vehicle: 2024 Ford F-250 Component: STRUCTURE – SUNROOF/MOONROOF Summary: While driving at highway speed (~75 mph) on I-75, the twin-panel moonroof suddenly exploded outward with a loud bang. All glass was expelled upward/outward; no glass fell into the cabin or onto the sunshade. No vehicles nearby, no overpasses, no impact evidence on paint/roof, no strike point visible on remaining glass edges. Vehicle has a documented history of three prior dealership repairs/adjustments for leaks and alignment issues with the sunroof assembly at Sam Galloway Ford. Ford has denied warranty coverage twice, citing "radiating cracks" and claiming tempered glass cannot explode outward without external influence, despite zero physical evidence of impact and despite the prior misalignment repairs being a known cause of stress fractures in tempered glass. This is a serious safety defect — the explosive failure at highway speed created a sudden open roof and loud detonation that could have caused loss

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel inadvertently turned the vehicle to the right. Additionally, there was play in the steering wheel. Due to the failure, the contact was pulled over by police for DUI. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who performed an alignment, but the failure persisted, and the vehicle began pulling to the left while driving. The contact was made aware by the Ford App that there were two repair work orders for electrical and steering failures prior to purchasing the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Lorenzo Ford (30725 South Federal Highway, Homestead, FL 33030), for a second alignment and transmission reprogramming after a battery replacement, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who performed a third alignment, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken back to Lorenzo Ford (30725 South Federal Highway, Homestead,

2024 F250 Super Crew Cab, Single Rear Wheel, King Ranch. While driving on clearly marked highway, Lane Centering immediately begins to "Ping=Pong" or oscillate between clearly marked highway center and shoulder lanes markings. It is not a slow oscillation and if allowed to go unchecked for more than 2-3 complete side to side oscillations will go out of the lines and onto the shoulder. I haven't actually timed the oscillations but I estimate about 4-9 seconds from engaging the system to completion of one oscillation cycle (from center of lane to the left or right line, then over to the other, and back to center). I understand that this is not a "self-driving" feature, but the best thing about this feature is the ability to turn it off. It is a safety hazard, especially if it is engaged near a roadway edge and immediately overcorrects. I looked on multiple internet forums to see if this was an isolated incident and was disappointed to see that it seems to be a fairly common issue. I

My vehicle instrument cluster is glitching and blacking out occasionally. I saw NHTSA recall campaign number: 25V-540 which is for 2025 vehicles but mine is a 2024. Maybe this recall should be expanded to 2024 models as well. It has been happening since I had the vehicle and has been reported to the shop twice. The last time I went they offered to reload the software but I need to get that done when I am free.

What Happened: My 2024 Ford F-250 developed a coolant leak. The coolant lines run along the frame, and when I brought it to the dealership, they said the bent lines and leak were caused by “road debris” and refused warranty coverage. They claimed mud on the undercarriage meant I was off-roading. I only drive on normal gravel roads, and the truck had been parked for around three weeks before the leak appeared after a short drive around town. I did not hit anything. The placement of the coolant lines may make them vulnerable to minor debris in normal driving conditions. Dealer Experience: I also experienced dismissive treatment by the service advisor. When I arrived and said my pickup was leaking antifreeze, the advisor said, “Are you sure it’s not water?” The tone felt dismissive and made me feel like I wasn’t being taken seriously. Safety Concern: A coolant line damaged under normal driving conditions could lead to overheating and engine failure without warning. If these li

The trucks electronic system is all messed up. The temperature for Fahrenheit shows at time to be 142,165 which we know is not correct. Then while driving the dash displays a message that truck is going to shut off and it does while we are are still driving. Dash will display that we have a trailer hitched on when we do not. Many different alerts show up on the dash while in drive mode. We bought the truck brand new and it barely even has 18,000 miles on it.

Slight vibration at highway speed accompanied by faint grinding noise. Ford installed front auto locker to only one front wheel and a dummy full time locker to right front wheel in non trimmer 2024 f250 and f350s. They know the problem because they issued a tsb 52423 but do not contact truck owners of issue. Having only one locker makes the right side front axel spin at highway speeds and cause noise, vibration and unequal drag on the two front wheels causing the vehicle to drift to the right. Ford knows this, as evident by them going back to two locking auto hubs on 2025 models. My bigger concern is what happens in 100k k miles when the front differential being warn out by the highway speeds fails and locks up the front differential and suddenly locks the front right wheel and potentially sends the 7000 lb vehicle in an uncontrollable right turn. I am currently working with walker Ford to correct this issue with my truck. In my opion, this is a huge safety issue because Ford is aware

I purchased my new 2024 Ford F250 on [XXX] with less than 30 miles on the odometer. It includes a 10-speed automatic transmission. I have noticed erratic up shifting and down shifting of the transmission. The problem started at approximately 700 miles on the vehicle. Additionally I have noticed that after initial starting the vehicle, when placed into drive or reverse, the transmission appears to slam into gear as noticed by a large jerk and loud sound. The vehicle continues to sound like there is a mismatch between the engine revving up and transmission lagging behind for some time, or as if the transmission is slipping gears. The new vehicle was taken into the dealership on 6/9/2025 at 7:00AM and work was reportedly completed and vehicle ready for pickup on [XXX]. I was informed that the service technician performed a break-in procedure and that everything was okay. Within 30 minutes of picking up the vehicle the same problem started reoccurring.
