ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE TWO BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY TO THE FRAME MAY HAVE BEEN OVER-TIGHTENED. THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN ONE OR BOTH OF THE BOLTS FRACTURING, CAUSING THE STEERING GEAR TO BECOME LOOSE.

MY FORD EXPLORER 2007 HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE (56,000 MILES). ITS ENGINE STARTED TO SHUT OFF INTERMITTENTLY UNDER ALL TYPES OF CONDITIONS, STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. IT WAS INDEED VERY DANGEROUS. INDEED MY DAUGHTER, DRIVING THIS CAR, HAD AN ACCIDENT ON SEPT. 4, PRECISELY BECAUSE OF THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. FORTUNATELY IT HAPPENED IN A STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC WHICH DID NOT RESULT IN ANY INJURY. 2007 FORD 4DOOR XLT GAS PEDAL STUCK WHILE DRIVER WAS PULLING THROUGH FAST FOOD DRIVE THROUGH. BASICALLY, THE CAR WAS IN A STOPPED POSITION. BUT WHEN DRIVER MOVED FORWARD TO LEAVE, THE GAS PEDAL HESITATED AND THEN STUCK, LUNGED FORWARD OUT OF CONTROL; STARTLED THE DRIVER AND CAR HIT A POLE. DRIVER RECEIVED HEAD LACERATIONS FROM THE REAR VIEW MIRROR GLARE ADJUSTMENT LEVER AND HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. HE RECEIVED 8 STAPLES ON TOP OF HIS HEAD. NO PASSENGERS WERE IN THE TRUCK AT THE TIME AND WOULD EXPLAIN WHY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, DUE TO THE SUBSEQUENT ROLL ONTO THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE AS A RESULT OF THE ROLLOVER I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. WHEN THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY WENT IN REVERSE, THE RPM'S BEGAN TO REV. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED LOW BRAKE PRESSURE. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS. THE CONTACT SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING, OPENED THE HOOD, AND NOTICED SMOKE RISING. THE VEHICLE REMAINED PARKED FOR AN HOUR AND WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN.
