The 2014FORDEDGE carries 507 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 24 crashes, 0 fires, 19 injuries, and 0 fatalities. For crash performance, NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program gave this cohort an overall 4/5 rating, with 3/5 front crash, 5/5 side crash, and 4/5 rollover scores derived from standardized barrier and dynamic tests.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2014 EDGE is unknown or other with 76 filings, followed by electrical system (56) and service brakes (55). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 177 investigation files overlapping the 2014 EDGE, and 8 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

Iâve had some serious problems with my back up camera sometimes it blacks out and turns completely black in the middle of me backing up a few times I almost ran into a car and a person backing up and then when it goes blank all of a sudden I couldnât see. Also sometimes the picture will turn upside down and get distorted. I was going to get it looked at and I spoke with a friend that has a 2013 Ford edge and said they were having the same problems with their back up camera. So I looked it up online and noticed thereâs a recall on all backup cameras on Ford vehicles, it said it started 2015 and up, and it stated that the problems that they were having were the exact same problems that Iâm having but when I put my information in, it says thereâs no recall on my car so if itâs the specific year, I donât know, but Iâm obviously having the exact same problems with my backup camera and I feel like itâs dangerous and Iâm sure Iâm not the only vehicle that thatâs happen
Ford has the abs valve on back order for over 700 vehicles with no delivery date in sight. The vehicles are worthless at this point because they canât be fixed or driven safely.
In busy traffic brake pedal went all the way to floor almost causing me to hit vehicle in front of me. Vehicle was towed to my mechanic at which time he informed me this is an ongoing issue with Ford and is recall issue. I have contacted my local Ford dealer as well as Ford Motor company and filed a claim.Vehicle has not been repaired. I hope sooner than later Ford will acknowledge this ongoing issue as this is a very catastrophic loss!!
My ABS module/ hydraulic control unit isnât working . My ford dealership, Autonation Lincoln Clearwater, could not find a replacement and were told that they werenât making them anymore . I found that there were recalls on years 2015 and 2016
The backup camera on my 2014 Ford Edge is upside down. At night, the picture is completely unrecognizable. This year should have been included in the recent recall.

I am an automotive service technology teacher, retired. The ABS system on this vehicle failed without warning and without any trouble codes. No lights, no codes. The pedal sinks nearly to the floor, but does engage the brakes once the ABS chambers fill with fluid. But, by the time brakes begin to engage, one's heart skips a beat and it actually takes 1/2 second longer for the brakes to actually work. If not for my tall stature, I might not be able to reach the distance it takes to get hydraulic pressure. Brakes work, but marginally due to interference with floor. My research indicates this is a relatively common problem with these vehicles. Folks need to be warned! A recall is in order; at the very least a service bulletin and a customer notification. I'll fix it, but I shouldn't need to. I'll save the old unit and ship it if anybody wants to inspect it.

1) my rear view camera is disoriented when car is in reverse. Sometimes the picture on the screen is upside down or doesnt show anything at all. 2) drivers seat belt does not clip in correctly. I have to push the red button in for the seat belt to clip into place.

I purchased my 2014 Ford Edge in December 2023. March 2023, I started having issues with the driver side door lock sensor malfunction as shown in the last photo. The door would not automatically lock when I started driving, sensing that the driverâs side door was still open. It was not. I kept pushing the lock button to lock it, but it kept unlocking even while driving. Eventually it would lock. The cost to fix that was around $600 which I could not afford, and my limited warranty expired. July/August 2025 my ABS and traction control sensor lights were lit on my dash. I took the car for service and my very reputable mechanic diagnosed with no codes showing up a few times. Performed a reset twice and the lights came back on after only driving a couple of miles. He contacted Ford who advised he couldn't sell the part because there was a "national hold" on the part. On 9/2 my brakes and traction control failed resulting me rear ending another vehicle. The other safety issue is that my
