Within that volume, owners reported 28 crashes, 6 fires, 10 injuries, and 0 fatalities. For crash performance, NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program gave this cohort an overall 4/5 rating, with 3/5 front crash, 5/5 side crash, and 4/5 rollover scores derived from standardized barrier and dynamic tests.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2011 EDGE is electrical system with 683 filings, followed by service brakes (256) and unknown or other (253). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 177 investigation files overlapping the 2011 EDGE, and 8 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the brake pedal was firm while depressing with an abnormal hissing sound coming from the vehicle. Due to the failure, the braking distance was extended. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with power brake booster unit failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the same information as the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 197,000.

Back up camera problem. I have reported this before. I have difficulty remembering the date, but since I've reported it before, hopefully you'll find the info. Please help!
This issue happened back June 2025 when I make a wide turn, the car automatically go into limp mode and all the lights on the dashboard that is related to the brake system comes on, so for example, the advanced traction control sensor, the brake mode, the traction mode and the ABS mode and this is very dangerous because I realize when I am driving locally, and if Iâm in the middle of a major intersection, I can be struck because I would have to immediately turn my car off turn it back on and then it will start moving again. Sometimes it takes a while for it to start moving again.
Number one my brakes are soft they say needs abs and their is recall but not on My vin number but on Ford edge 2011if it's on one should be on all recall safety is without brakes and my camera is black again recalls on other ford edge but again not mine please help

Door sensor not working, lights stay on and the battery keeps going off, very common issue from research online
This back up camera has been an issue almost immediately after I got the car. Now the picture is upside down and has lines across the screen. I am on disability and I need my camera. That's one of the reasons I bought the car. Please fix this ASAP
Originally when I purchased my, 2011 Ford Edge SEL 3.5L v6. I was informed upon purchasing the vehicle that the rear view camera was malfunctioning. I told the car dealer that was no big issue that I would take care of the problem. This was in around Sept 21, 2021. I did buy a new camera and replaced the malfunctioning camera. Which it worked just fine until the issued recall for the 2021 ford edge when my vehicle started showing the rear view camera unavailable. Which was weird since it worked completely fine the day before. I did a full software update to the system. The first time it said update successful. I then ended up resetting and full system factory reset and went to perform the software update to Sync3. My rear view camera has been unaffectively fixed after the problem. First arose. I did repair a faulted wire in the harness which didn't work either. I suspect that it still may be a software issue or that the business I work for is somehow blocking the signal. I work for Map

When applying breaks in the snow, the antilock breaks fail. I loose control of breaking and car acts like the breaks are gone. This has happened many times in the snow. Car has been tied several times for no breaks. When it gets to the shop breaks are working. Shop released any air in antilock breaks but this continues to happen when breaks are locked up.
back up camera is flipped upside down and has been for years. No one has attempted to fix this. Is there a recall on this model and year. 2011 Ford Edge Sport.
My 2011 Ford Edge stalled on the freeway March 1st 2025. I had purchased the car in 2019, and kept up with regular maintenance. My mechanic tells me its an issue with the "water pump" thats is connected to the timing belt, and that the engine has been flooded? Now I need to replace my engine! I looked into it and it turns out THOUSANDS of others have gone through this too. Someone needs to have this car/engine PULLED off the market. When I purchased it, it was supposed to be a reliable car for my family, now I dont know what I'm going to do because Ford just doesn't care about their customers.
My camera has been upside down and or blank or won't show anything half the time and took to the dealer and they said they cant fix it because software issue but Ford has recalled other cars cameras for the same issue. Can't see behind me very well due to camera malfunction almost every time in reverse.

Rear backup camera has inverted picture and sometimes blank picture. I see recalls for newer Edge models with same problem but not the 2011. Second issue: sometimes the door ajar light is displayed on dash when doors are closed. Usually indicates driver door. Close several times and then it will finally work again. Has caused battery to run down in past if not caught before leaving vehicle. This is random as to when it happens, but I see online that itâs a common problem.
First it's been a great car.but out of no where my body control module started to get hot .now it has problems starting and keeping power
Passenger door Door ajar light laminates and will not shut off. Now battery keeps dying.
