TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD E450. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A FORD SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL IN AUGUST OF 2007. THE SPEED CONTROL WAS DISCONNECTED AT THAT TIME, AND HE HAS BEEN INFORMED EVERY MONTH THEREAFTER THAT THE PART WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MONTH. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
I RECEIVED A LETTER CONCERNING RECALL #05S28 IN AUGUST 2007 FROM FORD. PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS RECALL, NOR DO THEY KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. SHOULD THERE BE ANY COMPENSATION TO CONSUMERS FOR LOSS OF USE OF THE CRUISE CONTROL CONSIDERING THE LENGTH OF TIME THAT IS INVOLVED? *TR
UPON LEAVING THE VEHICLE TO ENTER A RESTAURANT, HAVING SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, I RETURNED FIVE MINUTES LATER TO FIND THE VEHICLE ENGULFED IN SMOKE THAT WITHIN ONE MINUTE BLEW UP IN FLAMES. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, WHO TOOK 10 MINUTES TO RESPOND, WHEREIN THEY PUT THE FIRE OUT, BUT THE TRUCK WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
Mileage: 199,000
FORD DOES NOT HAVE THE RECALL PARTS TO PERFORM THE RECALL WORK. THE DEALER I CALLED SAID FORD HAS TOLD THEM NOT TO EXPECT THE PARTS UNTIL JUNE 2008 AND THAT THEY NEVER HAVE HAD THE PARTS SINCE I RECEIVE MY RECALL NOTICE IN AUGUST 2007. RECALL NO. 05S28. *TR
