TRUCK EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. AS A RESULT THE TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE WITHIN TWO HOURS AFTER BEING PARKED. THE FIRE ORIGINATED UNDER THE HOOD. ALL THE UNDER HOOD ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WERE MELTED. THE HEAT ALSO CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD.*AK

2 FIRES AT ALTERNATOR LAST ONE TOTALLED VEHICLE FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE, AND HAD BEEN BACKED INTO THE GARAGE, HEADING OUT. AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, PUTTING IT INTO GEAR, AND LIGHTLY TOUCHING THE THROTTLE, THE VEHICLE'S THROTTLE WAS SUDDENLY PULLED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE SCREAMED OUT OF THE GARAGE UNCONTROLLABLY AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY.*AK
VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE 6 HOURS AFTER BEING PARKED. STATE FIRE MARSHALL DETERMINED THAT IGNITION SWITCH CAUSED FIRE. HOME AND VEHICLE WERE TOTALY LOST. 3 CHILDREN HAD TO JUMP THROUGH WINDOW TO ESCAPE THE FIRE, ONE SLICED TENDONS ON WRIST. IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL 96V071000 ON 30 SEP 1997. REPLACEMENT TIRES ON A 1988, FORD, ASTRO VAN. FIRESTONE, TRIUMPH RADIAL SR, P21570R14, DOT VDHYTHA035. RIGHT REAR TIRE DETACHED ALL IN ONE PIECE, ALL THE WAY AROUND, CAUSING CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL AND FLIP SEVERAL TIMES.*AK THE TIRE FAILURE CAUSED 1 DEATH AND 7 INJURIES. *SLC

IN ADITION, THE HYDROLIC CYLINDER THAT HOLDS THE REAR HATCHGATE "UP" FAILED AFTER BEING LOWERED. TO USE THE HATCHGATE, A PIECE OF WOOD MUST BE UTILIZED.

FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS WHEN VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED. NOTICED SMOKE FROM UNDER HOOD & ASH TRAY. CHECKED UNDER HOOD & VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. PUT FLAMES OUT. VEHICLE TOWED HOME. FIRE HAD ORIGINATED AROUND THE ALTERNATOR. VEHICLE NOT TAKEN TO DEALER. THE SECOND TIME WAS 3/21/99. *AK
WHILE VAN WAS PARKED IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED. THE FIRE BURNED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE FRONT INTERIOR. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VAN WAS TOTALLED. *AK
THE POWER STEERING HOSE BUSTED AND SPRAYED POWER STEERING FLUID ONTO MANIFOLD, CAUSING THE VAN TO CATCH ON FIRE COMPLETELY. THE VAN WAS DESTROYED BY THE FIRE. *AK
THE QUICK RELEASE COUPLING ON THE FUEL LINE AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD DISENGAGED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CATCH ON FIRE. *AK.ET.
ON AUGUST 15, 1998, MY HUSBAND AND I WERE EXITING OFF OF 575 SOUTHBOUND AT HWY. 92 AND SOMEONE CAME UP BESIDE ME AND SCREAMED AT US TO GET OUT, THE VAN IS ON FIRE. WE GOT OUT AND SOMEONE HAS CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THEY CAME OUT AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. IT HAD BURNED THE INSIDE OF THE FLOOR WHERE THE CONSOLE IS, AND THE ENGINE PARTS ARE ALL MELTED AND ONE OF THE FIREMEN FOUND SOME TYPE OF FUEL CANNISTERS ON THE GROUND. I HAD JUST LEFT THE GAS STATION, I HAD JUST FILLED THE FUEL TANK.
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER BEGAN TO SEE AND SMELL SMOKE. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE, PROCEEDED TO LIFT THE HOOD AND SAW HIGH FLAMES. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.
LIFTGATE LATCH BROKE, DROPPING LIFTGATE ON CONSUMER, RESULTING IN AN INJURY.
WHILE DRIVING APPROX 40 MPH SMELLED SOMETHING SMOTHERING. STOPPED AND LIFTED HOOD AND FIRE HAD COME OUT, AND WIRES WERE MELTED TOGETHER. *AK
ELECTRICAL: DRIVING HOME APPROXIMATELY 20MPH WHEN NOTICED THE SMELL OF SMOKE. PULLLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. BY THE TIME GOT OUT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. *AK
WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY VEHICLE SUDDENLY CAUGHT FIRE UNDERDASH IN LOWER AREA OF STEERING COLUMN, NO WARNING, NO FOUL PLAY, VEHICLE TOTALED. *AK
WHILE IN MOTION TRANSMISSION JUMPED OUT OF DRIVE INTO REVERSE GEAR, DRIVER LOST CONTROL, VEHICLE CRASHED INTO VEHICLE BEHIND, NO WARNING, TRANSMISSION REPLACED. *AK
WHILE VIHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE CONSUMER 'S GARAGE, ACCORDING TO THE CONSUMER, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM THE DASHBOARD TO UNDER THE HOOD; MELTING WIRES AND CABLES. *AK
UPON SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE WITH BRAKES APPLIED, ENGINE SURGED OVERPOWERING BRAKE, THEN SUDDENLY ACCLERATED OUT OF CONTROL, RESULTING IN MULTI-CAR CRASH, HIT PARKED VEHICLE AND FORCED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE, NO INJURIES. *AK
