Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

NHTSA currently has 20 investigation files overlapping the 2000 QUAD, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

I PURCHASED A DODGE RAM 1500 IN NOVEMBER OF 1999 FROM A CHARLESTON SC DEALERSHIP. IN 1993 THE DASH BEGAN TO START CRACKING AND WHEN WE SHOWED IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT THERE RESPONSIBILITY AND THAT IT WOULD COST $1000.00 TO REPLACE IT. AFTER COMPLAINING TO DODGE THE REPAIRS WHERE DONE AT NO COST TO ME. AFTER A FEW SHORT MONTHS LATER WE MOVED TO CRESTVIEW FL WHERE MORE CRACK STARTED FORMING UNTIL THE POINT THAT WE HAD 5 THAT FORMED FORM ABOVE THE CONSOLE DISPLAY AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. DUE TO MY CONCERNS THAT THE BAG WOULD CAUSE THE DASH TO BREAK APART AND CAUSE FLYING DABRIE IF DEPLOYED I REPLACED THE DASH THIS TIME AT THE COST OF OVER $2000.00. AFTER GET IT BACK THE FRONT SPEAKERS NO LONGER WORK. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHER DODGE CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND EVEN SOME ARE HAVING HUGE CHUNKS CAVE IN TO THE DASH AND WIRING THAT IS CLIPPED AND OR MELTED FROM THE EXPOSED SUNLIGHT. *TR
