The 1994DODGEPICKUP carries 10 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 0 crashes, 1 fire, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 1994 PICKUP is steering: steering wheel/handle bar with 1 filings, followed by suspension:front (1) and suspension:front:shock absorber (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 20 investigation files overlapping the 1994 PICKUP, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH THE HOOD LATCH CAME LOOSE ON THE 1994 DODGE RAM. THE HOOD FLEW UP AND BUSTED THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER HAS TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT REPAIRED FOR THE HINGE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TRUCK WAS UNDER NHTSA RECALL 01V04000 CONCERNING THE HOOD LATCH. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS TELLING HIM THAT THEY HAD THE WRONG ADDRESS, AND THAT WAS WHY HE WAS NOT INFORMED. THE CONSUMER SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT FIX HIS TRUCK NOW. THE DEALER REFERRED HIM TO THE DISTRICT MANAGER, AND HE CONCLUDED THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO FIX THE DAMAGES THAT THE LATCH FAILURE CAUSED. THEY WERE GOING TO ONLY REPLACE THE LATCH. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED CHRYSLER, AND THEY TOLD HIM TO GO TO DEALERSHIP.*AK
