Within that volume, owners reported 0 crashes, 0 fires, 1 injury, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 1992 MONACO is power train:axle assembly with 2 filings, followed by service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:disc:rotor (2) and visibility:windshield wiper/washer (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

NHTSA currently has 20 investigation files overlapping the 1992 MONACO, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT ROTORS BECAUSE THEY RUSTED TO THE POINT OF COMPRESSING. I UNDERSTAND 1989 TO 1991 WERE RECALLED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS WHY MY 92 WASN'T RECALLED IF IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. MY BRAKING WAS SO POOR THAT I WENT AHEAD AND SPENT ALMOST $300.00 AND REPLACED ROTORS AFTER I COMPLAINED TO CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THEY WHOULD NOT PAY FOR IT. I HAVE OLD ROTORS IF SOMEONE IS INTERESTED IN LOOKING AT THEM. THANKYOU KEN
