I HAVE A 1999 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE LEFT (DRIVERS SIDE) STRUT TOWER HAS RUSTED THROUGH. AFTER SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND A SERVICE BULLITEN WAS ISSUED: HTTP://IMG.VILLAGEPHOTOS.COM/P/2003-12/537508/CARAVANSTRUTTOWERTSB.JPG. IT SEEMS THAT THERE WAS A DESIGN PROBLEM AS I DON'T HAVE ANY RUST ANY OTHER PLACE. ALSO IT SEEMS THAT THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR

I WAS DRIVING AND WHILE TURNING ONTO BUSY INTERSECTION MY 1999 INTREPID ES 2.7 STOPPED. I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED REWIRING BUT THEN SENT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO HAVE THEM DISMANTLE MY ENGINE AND RETURN IT TO ME WITHOUT PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER SWEARING THAT EVEN IF THEY PUT IT BACK TOGETHER IT WON'T START. SO NOW 3 MONTHS AFTER PAYING MY CAR OFF. IT NEEDS ANOTHER ENGINE. NO WARNING SIGNS, IT JUST STOPPED AND WENT COMPLETELY DEAD. IT SEEMS TO ME THE DEALERSHIP DESTROYED MY ENGINE. REMOVED ALL TIMING BELTS AND EVEN BENT THE PLATE OF THE ENGINE INSTEAD OF CAREFULLY REMOVING BOLTS. I HAVE 5 KIDS AND NO CAR. NOW AM FORCED TO PURCHASE AGAIN. *TR

IT SEEMS THAT EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE DODGE DURANGO WE HAVE IT STALLS WITHOUT ANY WARNING. ONCE THE TRUCK STALLS, THE STEERING GOES OUT AND SO DO THE BRAKES. IF WE GET OUT AND WIGGLE THE PLUG THAT IS CLOSEST TO THE FIRE WALL "SOMETIMES" THE TRUCK WILL START. HOWEVER, WE HAVE SAT AND SAT WAITING FOR THE TRUCK TO COOL DOWN ENOUGH FOR IT TO START AGAIN. WE HAVE EVEN HAD TO BE TOWED A FEW TIMES BEFORE WE KNEW THAT WE COULD WIGGLE THE PLUG, WHICH IS VERY VERY HOT. TODAY, AFTER MISSING A JOB INTERVIEW BECAUSE THE TRUCK ONCE AGAIN STALLED, WE STARTED LOOKING UP ON GOOGLE TO SEE WHAT, IF ANYTHING CAN BE DONE AND HAPPENED TO FIND A WONDERFUL WEB SITE"AUTOBEEF". AT THIS POINT, IT LOOKS LIKE WE MAY HAVE TO GET A NEW COMPUTER FOR THE TRUCK, WHICH RANGES $1000.......!!!!!! *TR

FIRST THE CAR WOULD DIE OUT AT ANY GIVEN TIME. WOULD BE DRIVING AROUND WITH CHILDREN AND WIFE ON FREEWAY OR BUSY STREET AND ALL POWER WOULD JUST GO OUT. WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN OFF THE ODOMETER WOULD SAY NO BUS AND CHECKED ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. TOOK DODGE DURAGO TO LOCAL DEALER SHIP TO GET CHECKED OUT AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM WOULDN'T SHOW UP ON THERE COMPUTERS. ITS CONSEQUENCES COULD BE THAT A LADY OR ELDER PERSON COULD BE DRIVING A DODGE DURANGO AND THIS HAPPENS TO THEM WELL YOU LOSE ALL POWER OF THE VEHICLE AND POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. WHAT IF THEY CANT CONTROL THIS THEY COULD GET INTO A WRECK AND DIE OR HURT OTHER PEOPLE.WHEN THIS HAPPEND TO MY WIFE SHE WAS ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR.I HAVE READ MULTIPLE FORUMS WITH THIS SAME COMPLAINT WITH THE 99 DODGE DURANGO AND DODGE ACTS LIKE NOTHING IS WRONG I GUESS ITS GOING TO TAKE A MAJOR LAWSUIT FOR THEM TO OPEN THERE EYES. 1999 DODGE DURANGO SLT 5.9L V8 THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WITHOUT NOTICE WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. WHEN YOU LET THE CAR SIT IT WILL EVENTUALLY START BACK UP AS IF THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS JUST MINE BUT AFTER INVESTIGATING ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALLOT OF PEOPLE. THE PCM HAS ALL READY BEEN REPLACED IN MY VEHICLE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT IN THIS MODEL. THE DODGE COMPANY SHOULD BE MADE TO GO GOOD ON THIS. IT IS SAPPOSE TO BE A FAMILY VEHICLE HOWEVER I AM SCARED EVERY TIME I HAVE TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN IT.YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO STALL.
