Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 20 investigation files overlapping the 1991 COLT VISTA, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. I HAVE A 1992 DODGE COLT VISTA THAT WHILE DRIVING WILL SHUTDOWN. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A COUPLE MINUTES AND YOU CAN RESTART THE CAR, OTHER TIMES IT TAKES A DAY. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY DAY, SOMETIMES YOU CAN DRIVE FOR A MONTH WITH OUT IT HAPPENING. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR IN TWO DIFFERENT MECHANIC SHOPS AND THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. IT LEAVES NO ERROR CODES IN THE CARS COMPUTER. *PH
