Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. 1500 4X4 I PURCHASED A 1996 DODGE TRUCK, AND UP UNTIL NOW I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS. I HAVE REPLACED ALMOST EVERY SINGLE FREEZE PLUG ON THE ENGINE EXCEPT FOR THE ONES ON THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. THESE FAILURES HAVE ALL BEEN WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. I EXPECT THE FRONT ONES TO FAIL IN THE NEXT TWO MONTHS. I HAVE TALKED TO A FEW MECHANICS, AND THEY SAY THESE SHOULDN'T BE WEARING OUT AS FAST AS THEY ARE.
