The 2013DODGECHARGER carries 488 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 37 crashes, 27 fires, 23 injuries, and 0 fatalities. For crash performance, NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program gave this cohort an overall 5/5 rating, with 4/5 front crash, 5/5 side crash, and 5/5 rollover scores derived from standardized barrier and dynamic tests.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2013 CHARGER is electrical system with 156 filings, followed by engine (50) and power train (46). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 8 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 1 investigation file overlapping the 2013 CHARGER. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

Vehicle: 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Iâm reaching out because my car has been showing signs that seem to match the symptoms of the V62 recall that FCA issued for the fuel pump relay issue. I have a 2013 Dodge Charger R/T with the 5.7L HEMI engine. Lately, the car has been having trouble starting, especially after itâs been driven and sits in the heat. Sometimes it cranks but wonât turn over, and other times it randomly dies or stalls when Iâm coming to a stop. It recently sat for a couple of days and then started again like nothing happened. This keeps happening on and off, and Iâve noticed itâs worse when itâs really hot outside or after itâs been driving a lot I took it to the dealership and they said my specific VIN isnât part of the recall, but I wanted to report this because it really seems like the same issue. From what Iâve read, the V62 recall had to do with a faulty fuel pump relay thatâs built into the TIPM and causes exactly these kinds of problems. I u

The "Vehicle Not in Park" warning message is a safety feature designed to prevent accidents and injuries. It's a standard safety feature in most modern vehicles, including the Dodge Charger. Here's what it's intended to do: When the vehicle is shifted out of Park (P) and the transmission is not fully engaged, the system will display a "Vehicle Not in Park" warning message on the dashboard. This message is triggered by the vehicle's Transmission Control Module (TCM) or Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system, which monitors the vehicle's gear position and transmission status. The purpose of this warning is to alert the driver that the vehicle is not properly secured and may roll or move unexpectedly, potentially causing an accident or injury. This can happen when: The parking brake is not engaged: If the parking brake is not fully engaged or is released before shifting into gear, the system will detect this and display the warning message. The transmission is not fully engaged: If

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the lifters were making an abnormal tapping sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that there was no recall coverage for the failure. The mechanic determined that the tapping sound was due to the lifters, which were causing excessed wear on the camshaft. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.
