Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2023 CHALLENGER is visibility/wiper with 11 filings, followed by unknown or other (9) and service brakes (6). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 2 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 20 investigation files overlapping the 2023 CHALLENGER, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Recent Complaints

20260124STRUCTURE:BODY

Windshield stress crack. From driver side A pillar across the windshield. Widely known factory defect issue. Causing many windshield replacements. No impact, no chips. This was due to improper bonding of the windshield during manufacturing, and body flex of the vehicle.

20251229VISIBILITY/WIPER

ON 12/24/2025 I found a foot long stress crack on the passenger side of the windshield. I was a National Glass Association Technician for 10 years I can tell the difference between a stress crack and an impact crack. There is no reason for this 2023 vehicle to have a stress crack with only 38,000 miles. Apparently, this is an ongoing issue all one needs to do is google the condition to see there is a problem with these vehicles and windshield stress cracks. My concern is what is the underlying reason causing these stress cracks and is it a larger safety issue as I believe the manufacture most likely knows.

20251217VISIBILITY/WIPER

Have a crack in windshield on passenger side about half way up pillar. There is no places of contact just the crack like it’s from body flex and there are a lot of other challenger customers with the same issue

20251214UNKNOWN OR OTHER

This make/model/year has many issues of windshield cracking. My car windshield was fine, no issues, I went to the garage to uncover it to drive and there was a crack among the passenger edge about 9 inches. I researched if this was a recall/known issue. No recall but many many issues amongst owners of this car, in the exact same location for no apparent reason. They are saying it IS a build issue. Window cracking in Dodge Challengers, especially 2023 models, is a widespread issue linked to potential body flexing/twisting from manufacturing defects, causing stress cracks in the windshield; it's often a factory/assembly defect, not just typical wear. Dodge will NOT fix my windshield, they state there is only a 12 month glass warranty. I purchased my car in May of 2024. It only has 3000 miles on it and there is NO evidence of debris causing this. If you google, you will see how bad this is and it is affecting these cars everywhere.

20251102FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I know this has probably been posted. Driving last night with the wife and I smell fuel. Then the gas gauge starts to drop from full to empty in less than 3 minutes. I pull over, the car shuts down. I see fuel on the passenger side , just in front of the tire. Get the car safely towed home. I pop the back seat and remove the access cover for the fuel pump. See picture. This is how I found the fuel line. The green locking tab was not locked. Even though theirs a green paint mark to confirm the fuel line is secure. Obviously not. The locking tab barely engages and is so easy to move to the unlocked position with no effort at all. Stellantis should be embarrassed that a vehicle left their plant in an unsafe condition. Either the locking tab was not engaged fully or in my opinion a terrible design. It should lock with some effort. With the high pressure the fuel system is under there should be a better locking mechanism. This is a poor design. My car is not modified, has only 2,000 miles

Passenger seat will not lock into place, even while driving or stationary causing concern as this becomes a safety issue.

20250812VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

My traction control is turning on and off by itself I’m not touching the button can be at a stoplight or drive down the road

20250807SERVICE BRAKES

As described in the 05-001-22 bulletin, my brakes are making a clicking noise when reversing or turning at low speeds. A bulletin has been issued for every year except 2023 (my car’s year) for the same issue.

20250728VISIBILITY/WIPER

Front windshield on the passenger side developed a stress crack. There is no impact mark and the crack developed while turning a corner. Hopefully this doesn't mean that there is a deeper issue with the frame. This is a common issue on this year and model specifically that many have been complaining about on online forums. The crack grew from 5 inches to over a foot long within an hour. Others have said this will continue to grow horizontally until it splits the glass in two. This is a huge safety risk for all of the obvious reasons which can be googled. Not to mention it makes the car legally undrivable until fixed.

20250719VISIBILITY/WIPER

On March 25, 2025, the windshield in the vehicle spontaneously cracked, while parked and unattended, beginning from about midway down on the driver side A-pillar. This seems to be a known and repeated issue with windshields on the Dodge Challenger. Inspected by the dealership who stated that they had seen the issue before and agreed that it was obviously not struck with anything. Dodge (Stellantis) denied warranty claim.

20250707UNKNOWN OR OTHER

At 7k miles my windshield cracked sitting in the driveway. I have done some research and there are plenty of examples of 2023 Dodge Challengers having this issue. It is because of a manufacturing defect in the glass. I contacted Dodge and the dealership and they've claimed this damage is known and even inspected to prove it was not caused by an impact. Dodge also will not replace it under warranty even tho it is a manufacturing defect.

Got into my vehicle Saturday 4-19-25 and hit the start button and my front windshield cracked!!! A lot of people are having the same issue if you look on the dodge hellcat forum.

I own a 2023 Dodge Challenger R/T with approximately 9,200 miles. Recently, while the vehicle was parked, I discovered a significant crack in the front windshield originating from the passenger side edge with a length of approximately 10 inches. Notably, there are no visible signs of impact, such as rock chips or debris damage, indicating the crack developed spontaneously. This sudden failure compromises the structural integrity of the windshield, potentially reducing protection in the event of a collision and distorting visibility, thereby posing a safety risk. I took the vehicle to Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Concord, NC, where the dealership visually confirmed the crack. However, they denied warranty coverage, citing that the issue occurred beyond the 12-month coverage window. No prior warning lights, messages, or symptoms indicated any issues before the windshield cracked. Upon researching, I found that other owners of 2023 Dodge Challengers have reported similar spontane

20250211VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Once the cruise control or adaptive cruise control is set, there is no indication as to what the speed is set to on the display. The only way to find out what it was set to is to turn off the cruise control then set a new speed. Also, when increasing or decreasing the speed control, there is nothing to indicate the new speed in the display. You must count how many times you press the + or - speed button to calculate the new speed. I believe this is a big driving distraction and could be potentially dangerous. You could also accidentally set the speed faster that you thought. All other cars with cruise control that I have owned or rented show the set speed on the display. According to online Dodge Challenger forums, this is a common complaint with this year and model car as well as others. The forum indicates that this may be a programming error/oversight. It has been into the dealer a couple times for several days. They confirmed that it happens on my car and all the cars in

On Wednesday, [XXX] I was driving on [XXX] between Daytona Beach, Florida and Jacksonville, Florida. My Dodge Challenger’s windshield suddenly cracked while driving when I transitioned from the newly resurfaced left hand lane to the lower, not yet resurfaced, right lane. Two cracks immediately formed from the left a-pillar. There was no impact from an object that caused this to occur. The component that failed was the windshield. My safety was put at risk as my visibility was no limited due to the cracks in the windshield glass. Two separate Dodge dealerships have inspected the vehicle's windshield and taken digital photographs. No, the manufacturer themselves have not inspected the vehicle or component. At least not in person. There were no prior warnings to the windshield cracking. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

20241225UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I’m not sure if anyone has reported Dodge ( Challengers ) windshields unexpectedly without impact cracking. I’m seeing it a lot on the 2023 years my windshield cracked without impact, my brother also has a 2023 scatpack and his windshield cracked not even a week after purchasing the car. My cousin and uncle both have a 2016 and both windshields are cracked. I’m seeing a lot of videos on social media with people getting challengers and their windshields are cracked aswell there is no ways it’s a coincidence.
