General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Buick Encore GX and 2021-2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles. The emergency jack, if not positioned as directed in the vehicle owner's manual, can fracture while in use.

When parking and trying to shutoff vehicle a warning stating that the car needs to be shifted into park needs to be performed even though it is already properly in the parked position. The car cannot be shutoff and remains running until several actions of shifting the car in and out of the park position.

The vehicle intermittently warns about a Power Steering issue with no other indications to the problem. There are no physical issues detected while driving. The error displays at random times and will reset intermittently. This started occurring at the same time the car constantly indicates that it is not in park when trying to shutoff the vehicle even though it is clearly shifted into park.

The cruise control system intermittently fails to engage indicating an error with the system. After several random occasions it was finally determined that the issue is related to the brake pedal sensor not determining that the brake pedal has been fully released. It requires having to manually pull the brake pedal up to properly set the sensor to allow the cruise control system to engage. The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH on an open highway with the adaptive cruise control engaged, the system sensed an unknown object and slammed on the brakes. The adaptive cruise control was turned off. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,500.

And it drained the battery. Car would not drive. Had to have it towed to the dealership I brought it from 45 miles away. I had to pay $656.72 at dealership to get it fixed. The dealership removed and replaces the shifter assembly which cost $656.72.

The three bolts at the flange attaching the muffler to the upper muffler sheared off due to rust and the whole rear muffler fell off when driving the car on an interstate. Car is 3 years old and at the time had 65,000 miles. The bolts used are of poor quality, and to make matters worse, there is no exhaust hanger near this flange so the muffler is supported at the front by just this flange. Poorly designed by GM.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while in park(P), the gear failed to shift into the intended gear. The contact wiggled the gear shifter for the vehicle to recognize that the gear shifter was shifted out of park. The shift to park error was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 32,700.

Vehicle displayed "Shift to Park" error and would not shut off. This occurs after the shifter is placed in the park position. By any standard, a defective component that prevents the car from being shut off is an extreme safety concern and needs immediate attention. Additionally, the instrument panel remains illuminated and the aux power items continue to function. This has happened multiple times and has drained the battery on several occasions.
