Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 57 investigation files overlapping the 2005 SILVERADO CLASSIC, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. WE HAVE BEEN DEALING OUR CHEVY TRUCK NOT STARTING FOR UP TO 3 YEARS NOW. IT WAS TAKEN TO PILES CHEVOLET IN DRY RIDGE, KY. THEY SAID IT WAS THE STARTER, IT WAS REPLACED, FOR A SMALL FEE OF $550.00 BUT WE WERE NOT ALLOYED TO SEE THE OLD ONE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED, AND CONTINUED. AAA WAS CALLED MUILTIPULE TIMES. A RETUALE OF HITTING THE TOP OF THE STEERING COLUME, RUNNING THE GEAR SHIFT UP AND DOWN SEVERAL TIMES, IT MAY START. ANOTHER TRIP WAS MADE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IN THE AREA, IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR. WITH A COST OF OVER $800.00. JUST TO TURN AROUND A FEW DAYS LATER THE SAME THING. A CALL WAS MADE TO THEM, WELL YOU HAVE TO BRING IT BACK IN, BUT IT WANT START. GIVE ME A BREAK. WEEKS PASSED. FINNALY AT THE END OF OUR ROPE. WE RETURNED TO THAT DEALERSHIP. JUST TO BE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. MANY APPOINTMENTS, CLASSES AND JUST SPECIAL THINGS WERE MISSED BECAUSE THE TRUCK JUST WOULDN'T START. EACH TIME AAA WAS CALLED THEY WOULD SAY "IT IS NOT THE STARTER". TUESDAY JUNE 23RD A
