Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2024 SILVERADO 2500 is electrical system with 41 filings, followed by service brakes (37) and power train (29). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 57 investigation files overlapping the 2024 SILVERADO 2500, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. When driving, between the speeds of 40-50mph, the wheels would lock up without warning. This happened 4 times during the month of January, sometimes in 4wd. This occurred at speed when the vehicle seemed to be upshifting. Control of the vehicle would be lost during the lockup as the wheels would stop rotation entirely and rather violently. Check engine light came on after the 4th incident, reducing power and a code of P0747 "Pressure Control Solenoid "A" Stuck On". The transmission valve body was repaired by the local Chevrolet dealership under powertrain warranty. This is a known issue on previous years of this truck with the same transmission but has not been expanded to cover this vehicle. Thankfully, I was able to maintain contorol and was not in traffic when this occurred. I notified the dealer that the vehicle was shifting very hard during the last visit but no codes or issues were found at that time indicating an issue.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle entered LIMP Mode. During the failure, the transmission became stuck in 5th gear, and the vehicle operated at reduced speeds. The vehicle was turned off but failed to immediately restart. After approximately 15 minutes, the vehicle restarted, and the failure was self-corrected. The failures had occurred while hauling a heavy load and while not carrying a load. The message "Decreased Acceleration" was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The transmission fluid was flushed and refilled, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,000.

My husband and I were driving his Chevy Silverado with our two dogs in the back. Without any warning or any alert, our vehicle came to a complete stop in the middle lane on a three lane highway. Not a slow stop where there was any time. Iâm confirming immediate. At that time, the vehicle would not move at all for almost 5 minutes. As we sat there praying to God that we wouldnât die as tractor trailers and other vehicles came flying past missing us by inches. Itâs truly a miracle that no one was killed. He put truck in neutral and pressed start button and was not able to go any faster then 5 mph and once again a miracle we were able to make it to shoulder of highway without being hit. The vehicle was shaking excessively and flashing things like emissions, traction, as our videos and pictures will show when we made it to side of highway. This is a disgrace that any vehicle would ever be manufactured with this outcome. I am deeply grateful that my husband and I and our two dogs are
The check engine light goes on continously and it goes to limp mode. The truck cannot be driven daily and most of the time is in the dealer fixing the updates or computer. It is not an equipment problem but a computer problem.

I was leaving my farm property after loading my truck and tailgate and drove home 20 miles. At some point in the drive my tailgate dropped and fell onto the trailer tongue. This caused damage to my tailgate. I have called the dealer and they informed me there was a recall on the tailgate latch but they completed the work on the recall defect. I am questioning this and want to understand what to do now. I don't trust the tailgate and the truck has no warning system for when the tailgate drops like a door open signal.

My 2024 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax experienced a forced emissions derate event with a speed-limited countdown. The vehicle suddenly lost normal operating capability and became unsafe and undrivable. The truck was disabled in Enid, Oklahoma and had to be recovered and transported to a dealership. Prior to failure, the vehicle showed abnormal DEF/emissions behavior. The failure involves the SCR/DEF emissions system. I later confirmed this vehicle has a completed Product Emissions Recall for SCR Fault Detection. Despite that recall, the emissions system failed and triggered a derate and loss-of-mobility event. The truck is currently at Classic Chevrolet in Owasso, OK for diagnosis.

The transmission valve has gone bad a few thousand miles outside of warranty. This part has widely been recalled in Silverados up to 2022 but is not including 2024 yet. This is the same issue, that I also had with my Chevy Tahoe last August. Please include 2024 2500 Silverados.
2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD purchased new. Delivered with missing capless fuel adapter. Pointed out missing capless adapter defect to Chevrolet dealer. Dealer refused to correct defect. When the vehicle ran out of fuel on busy roadway a large quanity of fuel splashed on the owner, the vehicle and the road creating the potential risk of serious fire, injury and environmental hazard. Owner had to purchase the capless adapter from the dealer service department when #1 it should have been included with vehicle purchase #2 Dealer should have corrected this serious safety issue when customer brought it to their attention.
2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD purchased new. Vehicle did not include a complete owners manual only a brief description of vehicle. Many safety issues were left out such as maintenance schedules that could affect performance and safety over the life of the vehicle. another issue that was omitted was the operation of the automatic tailgate that was involved in a previous recall. I contacted Chevrolet and asked for the complete version of the owners manual and was told the the incomplete manual was all that was included in the purchase of a $72,000 truck. I was directed to a third party which offered the complete manual for $94.00 which included $32.00 shipping and handling. Book rate shipping is $5.95. For an automaker to excessivey profit from a safety problem is inexcusable and a danger to the public.

Very limited while driving in the dark cause head lights go off and canât drive in the rain or snow cause wipers turn off not save for my family and I and other drivers on the road Thai all happen, After the dealer (Lithia Chevrolet of Redding, CA) performed GM recall programming on the Serial Data Gateway Module (SDGM) and related software updates, my truck began having serious electrical failures. Immediately after the recall work, all exterior lights, interior lights, and trailer lights began flickering on and off while driving. The windshield wipers also pause or stop for a moment when this happens. None of these issues existed before the recall. This appears to be a module reset or corrupted calibration caused during the recall reprogramming. GM has already told NHTSA that they have hundreds of field complaints about flickering headlamps on 2024 trucks, and they identified lighting flicker as a safety defect. My symptoms match those issues exactly. The dealer refuses to accep
