Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2022 SILVERADO 2500 is electrical system with 24 filings, followed by unknown or other (16) and power train (12). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle, the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 57 investigation files overlapping the 2022 SILVERADO 2500, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page, a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently
The internal components of the tailgate are damaged by water and need to be replaced. They cause the tailgate to open and close randomly. This could cause items to fall from the truck bed on to the road.
It is a very well known issue with these make and model trucks, ( 19-current Silverado 1500,2500,3500) that the eurethane on the back glass and the back glass track/frame cracks and leaks water causing an unsafe environment inside the vehicle if not caught. There is little to no visible evidence this occurs unless you really look and or take apart the headliner and rear spoiler on the cab to search for this issue. Water intrusion into the cab of the vehicle can build mold / mildew and cause a severe health issue for occupants inside the vehicle. Gm has a TSB out on this issue and I believe it should be a recall as there are thousands of trucks out there with this issue risking a respiratory issue to those inside the vehicle.
I was in an accident where a drunk driver pulled out in front of me. I waw traveling at 55 and he drive in front of me without stopping from a side road. I swerved to miss him while applying the brakes. We collided I hit him with the driver front fender, where it crushes the fender and started peeling the driver door back. After the impact I continued through a ditch up onto a hill and struck a tree around 6" in diameter. I believe I was doing 40-50 when I struck the other vehicle and 25 when I struck the tree. The air bags did not deploy.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that the tailgate occasionally opened and closed independently. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the tailgate switch needed to be replaced. The contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

The vehicle was in a collision that occurred to the front of the vehicle causing the seat belts to lock up a burst of compressed air to come from the dash, the hazards to engage and the dome lights to engage, the vehicle then was taken into get repaired at a certified dealership, after dealing with the dealership and General Motors we find out the sensor did engage for the airbags to deploy but the airbags failed to deploy properly or break through the dash, the dealership and manufacturer are now not wanting to find out why this is doing this and just put a new airbag baffle in and call it a day.

There are recalls on other chevy with different vin numbers. On this truck the automatic tail gate keeps ope ing and closing and opening when driving down the road, I have been lucky not to loose stuff out the back when it decides to open while driving down the road.
Emergency brakes do not disengage all the time, resulting in brakes overheating.
When truck is turned off, cannot remove key. You have to wait 5 minutes or more before the key will come out of the ignition. Sometimes longer. This is an ongoing problem. We have another truck doing the same thing.

These tires are good year wrangler trail runner at size lt275/65 r20. My total mileage on these tires was 40970These were the original tires that were installed when the truck was purchased new. My tires are rotated every 5000 miles. Tire pressure is maintained at the exact pressure. I was driving on an interstate at 70 mph. A vibration started. I checked the tire pressure monitors and all showed normal pressures - I stopped and observed the tires were no longer round but had bulges to one side of the tread surface Both are likely to blowout and have to be replaced Two did this same thing in last 2 weeks
Three of four original Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT tires (DOT 0222) on my 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 have experienced catastrophic tread separations under normal use with 28,095 miles. The first two failed under warranty and were replaced at my expense; the third failed at highway speed, causing vehicle damage and a $1,000 insurance deductible plus additional cost to replace the tire. The dealership advised GM sent the failed tires for analysis, but GM denies receiving or reviewing them. Multiple NHTSA complaints describe identical failures on this same tire model (e.g., #11522434, #11482843, #11457647). This pattern indicates a potential widespread safety defect.

While driving on the freeway in a construction zone, I smelled a burning oil smell. I considered the possibility it was in relation to road repairs being done (roads being repaved, ie tar resurfacing). I was cut off by another vehicle and depressed my brakes and I saw a poof of smoke over the front passenger area near tire. I noticed all of my gauges were in the normal ranges (temperature, battery voltage, etc.) In less than a minute my truck went into limp mode and advised it had a DEF system issue and it would be limited to a set MPH and a set number of miles. Check engine light came on and another driver alerted me that the underneath of my vehicle was on fire. I pulled over to the side of the highway and my truck became engulfed in flames in. Truck is under factory warranty, unmodified, never been in an accident and has had all recommended services performed at local dealership. There was a significant amount of traffic and luckily I did not collide with anyone or set neighbo
