I WAS DRIVING APROX. 55-60 MPH ON NORTH BOUND 71 WHEN TRAFFIC SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN,WHEN I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR SO I TRIED TO PUMP THE BRAKES BUT THE TRUCK NEVER SLOWED DOWN, THE TRAFFIC WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME SO I HAD TO DRIVE OFF INTO THE MEDIAN ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND UP OVER THE CONCRETE CURB INTO THE GRASS AND EVENTUALLY CAME TO A STOP IN THE GRASS, LUCKILY THERE WAS NO CARS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD,AFTER HAVING IT CHECKED OUT I FOUND OUT

BASICALLY, THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS WOULD BLINK OUT AND NOT LIGHT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. THE TECHNICIAN FOUND SEVERAL WIRES HAD BURN AND DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAIN WIRING HOUSING CAUSING THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS TO MALFUNCTION. 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO K2500 BRAKE FAILURE. DRIVING HOME ON A COUNTRY BLACKTOP ROAD, ROAD WET FROM RAIN BUT VISIBILITY GOOD. APPROACHING A 45 MPH CURVE I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE PEDAL WAS SOFT AND WENT TO THE FLOOR QUICKLY. THE TRUCK FRONT TIRES HAD NO BRAKES AND THE REARS LOCKED UP. THE TRUCK WENT INTO A 360 SPIN AND OFF THE ROAD AT APPROX. 50 MPH. THE TRUCK WENT DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND INTO A SWAMPY AREA. UPON INSPECTION THE BRAKE LINES TO THE FRONT WHEELS HAD BLOWN OUT AND WERE EXTREMELY CORRODE

AFTER FILLING UP, WE NOTICED SMOKE AND A BURNT SMELL COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WE OPENED TO HOOD TO FIND WIRES SMOLDERING. WE IMMEDIATELY MOVED THE PICKUP AWAY FROM THE FUEL TANKS AT THE GAS STATION AND RE-OPENED THE HOOD. MY HUSBAND REMOVED THE PLASTIC SHROUD CONTAINING WHAT LOOKED TO BE ENCLOSED WIRES WHICH WERE SMOLDERING. I GOT THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER FROM THE GAS
