MY FAMILY WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION IN APRIL OF 97.WE FILED A SUIT WITH GM AND LOST BECAUSE OF THE COMPARATIVE LAW IN TN. HOWEVER, DURING THE LAW SUIT WE WERE INFORMED THAT NHTSA DOES NOT OR DID NOT REQUIRE A CRASH WORTHINESS TEST ON SEAT BACK STRENGTH ON DRIVERS SIDE IF LOADED DURING A CRASH.I AM REPORTING TO YOU THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS AND WE FEEL THAT SOME KIND OF TESTS NEED TO BE REQUIRED.DURING THE TRIAL WE MET SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT COMPLAINED TO NHTSA AND TO GM ABOUT BOTH
WHILE DRIVING AND PULLING A TRAILER THE VEHICLE STALLED, AS THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE, THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT HALF OF THE VEHICLE, NO INJURIES TO PASSENGERS (OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT). NLM
