The 2018CHEVROLETS10 carries 5 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 0 crashes, 0 fires, 3 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2018 S10 is service brakes with 1 filings, followed by suspension (1) and unknown or other (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 57 investigation files overlapping the 2018 S10, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. STEERING IS HARD TO TURN AT LOW SPEED AND FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE ON WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. I HAVE ALSO HEARD NOISE WHEN TRYING TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT. THIS HAS ONLY BEEN NOTICEABLE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND NOT YET DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 36,300 MILES ON IT. I AM REPORTING IT BECAUSE MY RESEARCH SHOWS THIS AS A GM PROBLEM WITH ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SINCE 2014. IT SEEM LIKE THIS PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED BY NOW.

MY 2018 CHEVY SILVERADO LTZ WITH 6,000 MILES ROLLED BACKWARDS OUT THE DRIVEWAY TO THE NEIGHBORS DRIVEWAY (ACROSS THE STREET) BACK TO MY DRIVEWAY. ALL WHILE IN PARK AND THE KEYS WERE IN MY HAND CAUSING IT TO KNOCK ME DOWN AND RUN ME OVER. I HAVE SUSTAINED SEVERAL OF INJURIES.
