TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CHEVROLET PICKUP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR BRAKE FAILURE SERVICE REPAIR. THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED FAILURE IN THE BRAKES LINES ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO RUST CORROSION WHICH WAS REPLACED IN 2007. RECENTLY, THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED WITH THE RIGHT SIDE BRAKE LINE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERN OF THE SAFETY ISSUE AND THE UNCERTAINTY OF THE DEFECT WITHOUT THE EXPERIENCED FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 167,000.

THE SPEED OF THE TRUCK WILL VARY WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS. WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES ON DRY PAVEMENT AND GOOD ROAD THE TRUCK WILL JERK HARD TO THE LEFT ,THEN SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT. SOMETIMES THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL FADE CLEAR TO THE FLOOR WHEN I GO TO STOP AT A SLOW SPEED. I HAD A NEW MASTER CYLINDER PUT IN THE TRUCK, BUT IT STILL DID THE SAME THING. SOME TIMES ALSO IT WILL MAKE THE FUNNY RATCHETING NOISE LIKE YOUR ON A DIRT ROAD AND TRYING TO STOP QUICKLY, BUT I WILL BE ON A GOOD DRY ASPHALT ROAD. SOME TIMES I WILL BE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL FADE DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK AT A AUTO REPAIR SHOP FOR OVER 6 WEEKS NOW AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE WIPER MOTOR ELECTRONIC BOARD FOR SOME CHEVROLET WIPER MOTORS. I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL DEALERS AND PARTS DISTRIBUTORS TO FIND THAT THE PART NUMBER OF THE RECALL IS THE SAME AS THE NUMBER THAT MY VEHICLE HAS, YET MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED. I HAVE FOUND MANY REPORTS FROM OWNERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I'M SURE THAT MY INCIDENT WHERE THE WIPERS QUIT IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAIN STORM WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH WAS JUST AS HAIR-RAISING AS THE REST. YET IT WOULD SEEM THAT NO ONE WOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR MORE THAT 4 YEARS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. WITH THE NUMBER OF INCIDENTS REPORTED, THE SAME PART NUMBERS INVOLVED, AND THE SAME INTERMITTENT FAILURE DESCRIPTIONS, I AM TIRED OF HEARING THE SAME ANSWER - "THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO".*AK

THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED 2/11/99 STATING SOLDER JOINTS NEAR THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR CAN CRACK CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. CONSEQUENCE SUMMARY STATED THIS CONDITION CAN RESULT IN INOPERATIVE WIPERS, REDUCING DRIVERS VISIBILITY, ETC. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO METRO CHEVORLET AND THEY STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE WIPERS AND THEY DID NOT FIX OR REPLACE ANYTHING. HOWEVER WHEN I DROVE AWAY I TURNED ON THE WIPERS AND HEARD THE MOTOR MOTOR RUNNING BUT THE WIPERS DID NOT WORK. THE RECALL STATED THE DEALED WILL REPLACE THE WIPER MOTOR AND CIRCUIT BOARD AND COVER AND THEY DID NOT.*AK

WE BOUGHT THIS PICHUP NEW, HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP MANY TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. IT STALLS ON US AT ANY TIME,THEY HAVE REPLACED PARTS AND REPLACED PARTS. EACH TIME THEY SAY IT IS EITHER THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM OR A OIL LEAK. THEY FIX IT AND AGAIN IT HAPPENS. I HAVE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTORY, AT ONE TIME THEY EXTENDED THE WARRENTY ANOTHER 1200 MILES, BUT OF COURSE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT BEFORE THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN AGAIN. I ASK THEM TO AT LEAST RECALL THE PARTS THAT KEEP GOING OUT OR FIX THE PROBLEM AND PAY AT LEAST HALF OF REPAIRS ON TRUCK, SINCE IT HAS BEEN DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK.
