CHEVROLET MOTORHOME AUTO-PARK BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKED UP WHILE TRAVELLING AT 60 MPH.
Mileage: 16,000
TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED ONTO THE PRESSURE SWITCH FOR THE PARKING BRAKE, LOCKING THE PARKING BRAKE SO THE WHEELS WERE LOCKED. INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE STOPPED FOR A STOP AND GO LIGHT.......FORTUNATELY, BECAUSE WE WERE TOLD THAT BECAUSE IT WAS CERTAIN TO HAPPEN, AND HAD WE BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE BRAKES LOCKED, IT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. THE VEHICLE WAS HAULED ON A FLATBED WRECKER TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER WHO "REPLACED PRESSURE SWITCH FOR PARKING BRAKE REFILLED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CLEANED EXCESS FLUID OFF". THIS TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN INSTALLED IN OCTOBER 1998 AFTER THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AFTER APPROX 52,000 MILES. *AK
