INABILITY TO STOP MOVING VEHICLE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE IS A 1995 CHEVY LUMINA MINIVAN. DRIVING 55 (POSTED SPEED LIMIT) DOWN A RURAL HIGHWAY AND APPROACHING STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN FAST ENOUGH TO MAKE THE STOP, FORCING EVASIVE ACTION BY DRIVER AND AN ONCOMING, CROSS TRAFFIC VEHICLE. VEHICLE GOING CROSS TRAFFIC EVADED THE HIT BY SWERVING AND SUBSEQUENTLY HITTING A TELEPHONE POLE. NEITHER DRIVER SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT INJURY. UPON INVESTIGATION, IT WAS FOUND THAT

1995 CHEVROLET LUMINA APV DRIVERS SIDE SEAT TRACK/FRAME BREAKS, CAUSING THE BACK OF THE SEAT TO RECLINE SUDDENLY. I HAD A 1994 CHEVROLET LUMINA APV WHICH WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN FEBUARY OF 2001, IN WHICH THE SEAT TRACK/FRAME BROKE. MINE JUST BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. LUCKILY I WAS IT AT A TIME WHEN THERE WASN'T MUCH TRAFFIC, AND I GOT STOPPED WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TALKED TO AN UPHOLESTRY SHOP AND A DEALER AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS COMMON ON THESE VANS. *AK

I PURCHASED THE USED 1995 CHEVY MINIVAN IN NOVEMBER 1997. EXACTLY 30 DAYS TO THE DATE OF THE SALE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE MINIVAN ON A PARKWAY WHICH HAD NO BREAKDOWN LANE. SHE HEARD A VERY LOUD STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. SHE GOT OFF THE PARKWAY AT THE NEXT EXIT AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. BY THE TIME SHE WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO PARK THE NOISE HAD STOPPED. SHE WALKED AROUND THE VEHICLE LOOKING FOR ANYTHING OUT OF ORDER AND SAW NOTHING. SHE GOT BACK IN THE VAN
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. HOWEVER, VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP, AND HIT A LARGE BOULDER. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS MATTER. *AK
TRAILING ARM BROKE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, CAUSING A COLLISION WHICH RESULTED IN MINOR INJURIES. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON THE ROAD AND ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT HER IN THE REAR. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK
VEHICLE HAS A REMOTE SLIDING DOOR. WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED IT CLOSES WITHOUT THE REMOTE BEING PUSHED. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON A SLIGHT HILL IT CLOSES. SOMETIMES WHEN NO HILL AT ALL, IT ALSO CLOSES. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT THE VEHICLE'S DOOR. THE DEALER REPALCED THE MOTOR ON THE DOOR. AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE MOTOR, THE DOOR STILL CLOSES ON IT'S OWN. CHILD WAS CLOSED UP IN THE DOOR WHILE ON A HILL. (SHE WAS PRESSED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND WHERE THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR MEETS. *AK
AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR ALMOST CLOSED UPON A CHILD BUT PARENT PUSHED CHILD OUT OF THE WAY AND HER ARM GOT CRUSHED. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FOUR CAR COLLISION, THE FRONT DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SEATS FELL BACK WHEN VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND. DRIVER COULD NOT SEE IN FRONT OF HIM WHEN VEHICLE WAS HIT IN THE FRONT. ALSO, NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FOUR CAR COLLISION, THE FRONT DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SEATS FELL BACK WHEN VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND. DRIVER COULD NOT SEE IN FRONT OF HIM WHEN VEHICLE WAS HIT IN THE FRONT. ALSO, NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. *AK
ABS BRAKE FAILURE, APPLIED BRAKES VEHICLE SKIDED AND BRAKES LOCKED UP, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO IMPACT INTO A HIGH CURB AT 12:00 POSITION, SPEED 35MPH. *AK
THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR WHEN OPENING, THE DOOR WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD, CAUSING THE OCCUPANT'S ARM TO BE PINNED IN BETWEEN THE DOOR, RESULTING IN INJURIES. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE DEALER ORDERED PARTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK
UPON REARENDING A VEHICLE DRIVER'S AIR BAG DID DEPLOY, CAUSING BODILY INJURIES, SUCH AS BREATHING/ BURNED CLOTHING AND EYE DAMAGE. *AK
THE FRONT SEAT BELT BROKE AND CAME UNLATCHED AND WAS REPLACED. *AK
UPON FRONTAL IMPACT W/DEER @ 50 MPH, DRIVER'S AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE AND TOWED FROM SCENE. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
