IN REFERENCE TO COMPLAINT #10217562, THIS IS AN ADDENDUM. THE VEHICLE HAS SINCE BEEN TO AN ALIGNMENT FACILITY, AND IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS REPOSITIONED APPROXIMATELY 50 DEGREES OFF CENTER BY THE END MANUFACTURER---MONROE TRUCK EQUIPMENT. THIS DEVIATION FROM CENTER WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REPORTED BY US TO AN ENGINEER AT ZF LINKSYSTEM (THE MANUFACTURER OF THE STEERING GEAR), AND THEIR OPINION WAS THAT THE STEERING GEAR WAS NOT AT ITS OPTIMAL POSITION--THIS ADVERSELY AFFECTS STEERING "PLAY" AND THE RANGE OF STEERING LEFT OR RIGHT. UPON TESTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THERE IS 1/2 GREATER TURN CAPABILITY TO THE LEFT, COMPARED TO THE RIGHT. (THERE WERE 2.5 TURNS LEFT OF CENTER IN THE STEERING, AND 2 TURNS TO THE RIGHT.) THE EFFECT ON TURN RADIUS HAS NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED. THE EXPERT CONSENSUS WAS THAT THE DRAG LINK SHOULD HAVE BEEN SHORTENED TO MAINTAIN THE ORIGINAL TURNING SPECIFICATION AND PERFORMANCE. I TOOK DELIVERY OF A NEW C4500 KODIAK CREW CAB WITH 0.7 MILES. I FIRST NOTICED A LOUD WIND-HOWL COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR. I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD SUCH LOUD INTERIOR NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT WASN'T UNTIL I ENCOUNTERING HEAVY FREEZING RAIN, THAT I REALIZED THAT THIS MOISTURE WAS ACCUMULATING IN THE DOOR JAMB OF THE AFOREMENTIONED DOOR, FREEZING, AND MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE DOOR WAS ASSEMBLED AT GM INCORRECTLY AND THE LEADING EDGE OF THE DOOR WAS 3/8" OUT OF ALIGNMENT WITH THE BODY, SO MUCH SO THAT IT WASN'T EVEN TOUCHING THE DOOR'S LEADING EDGE WEATHER STRIP. THIS ALLOWED ALL PRECIPITATION AND WIND TO ENTER THE DOOR JAM FREELY AND INTERFERE WITH THE FUNCTION OF THE DOOR. THE CONTRALATERAL DOOR WAS ASSEMBLED CORRECTLY FOR COMPARISON. *TR

I STOPPED AT THE FIRST REST-AREA TO FIND THAT THE DRIVERS HEADLIGHT (SEALED BEAM) WAS NOT FUNCTIONAL. I WAS FORCED TO COMPLETE MY JOURNEY WITH THE HIGHBEAMS ON. THE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW. UPON REPLACING THE HEADLIGHT AT MY FIRST OPPORTUNITY, I NOTICED THAT THE AIMING MECHANISM, SPRINGS, WERE ALL SEVERELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE IS NOW HEADED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE AIMING OF THE LIGHTS RECTIFIED. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IN THE NIGHT WITH THIS TYPE OF MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I PICKED UP A NEW C4500 KODIAK PICK UP CONVERSION FROM MONROE TRUCK EQUIPMENTS FLINT LOCATION. IT WAS DELIVERED WITH MONROE'S SO-LOW SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND A PICK-UP BED. IT HAD 0.7 MILES AT DELIVERY. IMMEDIATELY UPON ENTERING THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE HAD A MODERATE TO SEVERE FRONT END VIBRATION--EVIDENT AT 46-50 MPH AND AGAIN-- WITH SEVERE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION-- AT THE POSTED HIGHWAY SPEED. IT HAD MODERATE BUMP STEER ISSUES WHEN ENCOUNTERING ROUGH ROADS MAKING IT EVEN HARDER TO CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WILL DART ONE DIRECTION OR ANOTHER GOING OVER BRIDGE SEAMS OR WHEN ENCOUNTERING BUMPS. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS OFF-CENTER TOO, COMPLICATING THE ISSUES. HAVING NOT DRIVEN AN UN-MODIFIED KODIAK 4500, I CANNOT ATTEST TO THE SEVERITY OF THE BUMP STEER COMPARED TO THE BASE VEHICLE. I CALLED MONROE AND THEY CLAIMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A TEST-DRIVE BY THEIR TECHNICIANS BEFORE DELIVERY AND CHECKED-OUT OK. THEY SAID THAT THE STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS THE MOST IMP

IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL TO EXHAUST TIP COOLER THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY THAT YOU WILL START A FIRE IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE VEHICLE DURING REGENERATION (TEMPERATURE IN EXCESS OF 1,000 F). IF NOT INSTALLED THEN THE SECONDARY MANUFACTURER ASSUMES ALL LIABILITY FOR AN INCIDENT. THIS PART IS NOT OPTIONAL. YOUR SALES AND SERVICE STAFF MUST BE MADE AWARE OF THIS REQUIREMENT AND YOUR OBLIGATION TO INFORM YOUR CUSTOMERS. MY 2007 YUKON HAS NO DASH INSTRUMENT LIGHTS DURING DAYLIGHT. THE ONLY GAUGE ILLUMINATION IS WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNED ON. DURING DAYLIGHT, THE GAUGES ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE WITH SUNGLASSES. AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE WITHOUT SUNGLASSES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD FOR A CONSIDERABLE TIME TO VIEW THE GAUGES.
