I HAVE HAD THIS PICKUP TRUCK FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS AND FROM THE TIME I GOT IT HAS BEEN STALLING DOWN WHILE DRIVING IT. IT JUST SHUTS MY ENGINE OFF W/O ANY WARNING AND I PULL A TRAILER ALOT AND SO FAR I HAVE BEEN LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO COAST OFF ROAD W/O CAUSING ACCIDENT. I AM NOW GOING TO BE ON MY 4TH PMD AS MY LAST ONE JUST QUIT AND MAKES IT HARD TO RESTART DIESEL. I JUST ORDERED ANOTHER PMD. NOT ALL PMD'S WENT BAD THE SAME WAY. THE ONE IN OCT. 2011 CAUSED MY ENGINE TO CONSTANTLY GO TO HIGH RPM'S ABOUT 5K & I HAD TO PUT TRUCK IN NEUTRAL , PULL OFF ROAD AND TURN KEY OFF. I TALKED TO ORIGINAL OWNER AND HE SHOULD ME RECEIPTS FOR SAME PROBLEM AND CHEVY DEALER CHANGED FUEL INJECTION PUMP & PMD THAT COST OVER 2K. THIS IS PROBLEM THAT CAN COST MY LIFE OR OTHER PEOPLE ON THE HIGHWAYS OR ON THE RR TRACKS. I HAVE ABOUT 159,000 MILES NOW. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK USED AND HAD ABOUT 108,000 MILES & GOING ON 4TH PMD. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND HOTTER CLIMATES CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS WITH PMD. *TR
TRUCK WITH 6.5 TURBO DIESEL WOULD SPORADICALLY HICCUP AND STALL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD CAUSING LOSS OF POWER TO OPERATE STEERING AND BRAKES PROPERLY, PUT TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND ATTEMPT TO RESTART, SOMETIMES IT WOULDN'T FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD, REGAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLES POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD HICCUP THEN START ACCELERATING ON IT'S OWN WITH NO WAY TO REGAIN CONTROL WITHOUT TURNING OFF THE IGNITION AND COASTING TO A STOP. SOMETIMES I WOULD NEED TO TRY RESTARTING IT SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE THE ENGINE WOULD RACE OUT OF CONTROL. I HAVE HAD THE FUEL INJECTION PUMP REPLACED AND SEVERAL PUMP MOUNTED DRIVER MODULES "PMD'S" FROM BOTH STANADYNE AND D TECH WHICH GM HAD AUTHORIZED TO MAKE THESE PARTS FOR THEM. I ALSO HAVE A 1998 CHEVY K3500 WITH THE 6.5 TURBO DIESEL THAT HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS NUMEROUS TIMES. *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IDLING OR WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5-65 MPH. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED ON NOVEMBER 6, 2007. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A SAFETY NOTICE FOR THE FUEL INJECTION PUMP THAT COVERED THE VEHICLE FOR UP TO 120,000 MILES. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE.
