The 1994CHEVROLETK20 carries 4 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 0 crashes, 0 fires, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 1994 K20 is seat belts:front:buckle assembly with 2 filings, followed by power train:automatic transmission (1) and visibility:windshield wiper/washer (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 57 investigation files overlapping the 1994 K20, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER BECAME VERY IRRATIC AND EVENTUALLY QUIT IN NOV 96. WARRANTEE WOULD NOT COVER IT SO I REPLACED IT AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THE SECOND WINDSHIELD WIPER IS CURRENTLY DOING THE SAME AS THE FIRST, VERY IRRATIC AND QUITS ALL OF A SUDDEN, PUTTING MY LIFE IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. MY 95 BLAZER HAD A RECALL ON THE SAME EXACT WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE THAT I HAVE REPLACED. I HAD THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP CHEC THE PART NUMBER ON MY 94 CHEV PU, AND IT'S THE EXACT SAME AS FOR THE BLAZER, YET CHEVROLET SAYS THE VIN # ON MY PU IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. THE VIN NUMBER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WIPER MOTOR OPERATION IF THEY ARE THE SAME P/N. CHEVROLET STILL WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. CHEVROLET GIVE ME A CASE # OF 980818166. ANY ASSISTANCE WOULD BE APPREICATED BEFORE SOMEONE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM GETS HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE THEY CAN'T SEE DURING A SNOW OR RAIN STORM.
