TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1996 CHEVROLET K1500. THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE WIRES WERE TOO SMALL A GAUGE FOR THE LOAD. THE PLASTIC INSULATION CAUSED THE WIRES TO OVER HEAT AND IT BURNED DOWN TO THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT SHOWED THE PARTS TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS TYPE OF FAILURE. HE ATTEMPTED TO REACH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS UNABLE TO SPEAK WITH ANYONE. THE CONTACT IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE

UPON MAKING A LEFT TURN BRAKES LOCKED UP, CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND WENT INTO A DITCH. THIS WAS DUE TO THE BRAKE ROTORS BREAKING AND JAMMING INTO THE BRAKE. THIS FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY POOR DESIGN OF THE ROTORS, PER THE DEALERSHIP.

VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE DRIVER OPENED THE DOOR BY REMOTE CONTROL AND NOTICED SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE REMOTE INSIDE OF THE DOOR CAUGHT ON FIRE. DRIVER EXTINGUISHED FIRE, AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR ANALYSIS. THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORT.

THE CONSUMER'S 2 YEAR OLD ADOPTIVE CHILD'S TOP PORTION FINGER WAS FRATURED DUE TO THE SEATBACK FOLDING DOWN ON IT. WHEN NOTIFIED THE DEALER INDICATED THE PARTS MUST HAVE BEEN PUT IN BACKWARDS WHEN REPLACED FROM THE RECALL (97-V-037-000 MANUFACTURER ID# 97000). THE REPLACEMENT PIECES ARE PLASTIC. NLMCOVERS FOR PINCH HINGE POINTS, RIGHT FRONT SEAT, WERE NOT WELL CONSTRUCTED AND FAILED. REPLACED AT COST. *JG
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 74 MPH RIGHT REAR TIRE (FIRESTONE DUALER 256/16) EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION, CAUSING CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND CRASH INTO GUARDRAIL HEAD ON, THE PASSENGER WAS THROWN INTO DRIVERS SIDE SUSTAINING INJURIE., THIS WAS THE THIRD TIRE THAT HAD PROBLEMS WITH.
