PRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. AFTER INSPECTION I FOUND THAT THE REAR STEEL BRAKE LINE FAILED. IF I HAD NOT BEEN PULLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND ON THE STREET I MAY HAVE CRASHED AS A RESULT. THE FAILURE POINT IS RIGHT BESIDE THE DIESEL TANK ON THE FRAME RAIL. *TR

I HAVE A 1999 CHEVROLET GMT-400 PICKUP WITH ABS BRAKES. THE ABS SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE, CAUSING THE ABS TO ACTIVATE AT LOW SPEEDS,SUCH AS IN PARKING LOTS. I HAVE HAD A LOT OF CLOSE CALLS DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION HAD A RECALL ON 1999 CHEVY SILVERADOS DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THEY REMOVED AND CLEANED THE ABS SENSORS AND COATED THEM WITH A SUBSTANCE TO PREVENT FUTURE RUSTING OF THE COMPONENTS. I WENT TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO CHECK ON THIS RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS THE SAME AS THE 1999 CHEVY SILVERADO AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. I LIVE IN THE SO CALLED "RUST BELT " AREA INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER FOR ME. THANK YOU. *JB
