Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2000 G35 is structure:body with 1 filings. Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 57 investigation files overlapping the 2000 G35, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. MY SIDE CARGO DOOR HINGES SIZED UP BECAUSE WHEN THEY MANUFACTURED THE 2000 CHEVY EXPRESS 3500 THEY DIDN'T MAKE THEM WITH GREASE FITTINGS. SO THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO GREASE THEM NOW I AM STUCK PAYING ANYWHERE FROM 1500 TO 2000 USD. THE BLUE BOOK ON MY VAN ISN'T WORTH THAT MUCH,I AM STUCK WITH A VAN THAT SIDE DOOR WON'T OPEN & NO ONE WILL BUY. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT BECAUSE THERE IS NO GREASE FITTINGS TO OIL.I HAVE SPOKE WITH DEALERS & THEY HAVE SEEN MORE THAN THEIR FAIR SHARE OF THIS PROBLEM. ONE REASON IS THAT IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME TO REPAIR THE OTHER REASON IS PERSONAL, THE FACT THAT THE PARTS ARE DEALERSHIP ONLY! I RUN MY BUSINESS OUT OF THIS VAN,THE ENGINE IS IN GREAT SHAPE BUT I CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH IT BECAUSE OF THE HINGES ARE BROKEN. H E L P! *TR
