TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EXPRESS 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY SINCE THE PART WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE IN ORDER TO DO REPAIRS FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V117000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE.
STARTED VEHICLE AND "SERVICE AIR BAGS" WARNING CAME ON. IT HAS COME ON AT EVERY START SINCE. ON 3/20/14 CHEVROLET DEALER REPAIR DEPARTMENT DIAGNOSED A FAULTY FRONT SENSOR. REPLACEMENT WILL BE AVAILABLE NEXT WEEK. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION BY TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE CONTAC WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. THE CONTACT APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A BRICK WALL. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD SEND AN INSPECTOR TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE THE VEHICLE. WHILE STOPPED AT A TOLL BOOTH WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER RUNNING AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDA HARDL, THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AND THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE RPMS DECREASED. THIS WAS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THE FAILURE. THE RENTAL VEHICLE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED.
