The 2010CHEVROLETCORVETTE carries 90 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 2 crashes, 0 fires, 7 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2010 CORVETTE is fuel/propulsion system with 44 filings, followed by air bags (14) and fuel system, gasoline (5). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

NHTSA currently has 57 investigation files overlapping the 2010 CORVETTE, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

After an oil change at a Chevrolet dealer I drove to get gas. After refueling I got in and was preparing to drive away when I noticed the clutch pedal was on the floor and would not pop back up ready to be used. I had the car towed to the Chevrolet dealer where I learned the hydraulic clutch master cylinder had failed. I was lucky this didn’t happen while o was driving the car on the highway. I am not sure how that would have affected the drivability of the vehicle but it could have been very dangerous. I had received a letter from Chevrolet years earlier that described the problem and said if it happened within 10 years or 100,000 miles they would repair it. Mine failed after the 10 years but at only 8,500 miles. This system of not actually recalling the car for repair but instead issuing the owner a “notice”, doesn't seem fair for someone who doesn’t drive their vehicle many miles but is still costly and potentially dangerous when it occurs while the vehicle is being driven.

Purchased 3 weeks ago. Third time filling up and first time in the garage. Noticed the fuel tank is leaking at the pump due to defective plastic. Car only has 55k miles, this should not be an issue. Is Chevy going to fix this or am I out the 2k repair bill?

20230327FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that gasoline was leaking from the fuel tank onto the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 55,000. VIN was not available.

The fuel tank is leaking at the pump due to defective plastic. There should be a lot of reports of this happening on this vehicle and it is more dangerous than any other defect I have ever heard of.

Have a strong odor of gasoline coming from vehicle parked in garage. Have not noticed any gasoline in the garage floor, only the strong odor.

20221116ENGINE

At 85,000 miles the timing chain triggered the check engine light to come on. At 100,037 miles the engine was burning oil. Three mechanics confirmed that the engine needed to be replaced. An estimated cost of $8,000 - $12,000.

20220322FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

After filling up my gas tank in my 2010 Chevrolet Corvette I notice a strong gas smell that permeates through my entire garage and house. Upon investigation from an auto repair shop it has been determined I need to replace a faulty cracked fuel pump. Upon further investigation it seems there was a "Special Coverage Adjustment" from GM for this repair only for up to 120k miles. This should be a recall!!! as it is a very dangerous situation! So because I am over 120k , (just purchased from dealer) I am responsible for the 3k repair? That is 100% not acceptable. 15682 Primary Tank Module Flange Fuel and Vapor Leaks Copyright 2016 General Motors. Reference Number: N150682 Release Date: January 2017 GWM Number: 2015682

Upon filling the car to a full tank that is a strong gas smell that permeates the cab. This smell is persistent even while driving with the convertible top down. People driving behind me were are able to smell the gasoline vapors. The vapors and smell subside once I get below 3/4 tank of gas.

20211128FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Seems to be a common issue and GM has a tsb for it but they only covered the repare for 10 years and 120k I am at 11 with 70k miles. The fuel is leaking from the top of the tank and could cause a fire.

20211115FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

My 2010 Chevrolett Grand Sport has developed a very strong odor of gasoline. Both when parked in garage and while driving. It’s obviously leaking gasoline somewhere which could result in a fire or death.

20210501FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I NOTICED THE HEAVY SMELL OF GAS FUMES AFTER PUTTING GAS IN MY VET. THE SMELL IS MOST PROMINENT WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND PARKED IN THE GARAGE. I AM SURE THAT THE SMELL IS ALWAYS PRESENT AND THAT BEING PARKED IN A PARKING LOT OR OUTSIDE DISSIPATES THE SMELL. I HAVE TRIED FILLING THE TANK HALF WAY TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP BUT THE SMELL OF GAS IS STILL THERE. IT IS STRONGEST IN THE REAR HATCH AREA ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE SMELL IN GARAGE IS SO STRONG I HAVE TO LEAVE THE GARAGE DOOR OPEN TO VENT. I AM FEARFUL THAT THE FUMES MAY IGNITE MY GAS WATER HEATER WHICH IS LOCATED ABOUT 7-8FT AWAY OR START A CAR FIRE IF GAS HITS THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE. THIS IS TRULY SOMETHING THAT CHEVY NEEDS TO REVIEW TO SEE IF FAULTY EQUIPMENT WAS PLACED IN THE C6 MODELS. I HAVE HAD THE VET FOR 4 YEARS IT IS A 2010 AND THE MILEAGE IS JUST OVER 55K. I JUST NOTICED THIS ISSUE ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. I HOPE THAT MY PROPERTY IS NOT DAMAGED BY A FUEL SOURCE ORIGINATING FROM THE CAR
