Within that volume, owners reported 1 crash, 0 fires, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2000 CHEVY VAN is service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:disc with 2 filings, followed by seats (1) and service brakes, hydraulic:antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

NHTSA currently has 57 investigation files overlapping the 2000 CHEVY VAN, and 2 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. I WAS NOT TOLD THIS VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. FAILURE TO FIX THE AXEL WHEN UNDER WARRANTY THE HEADLIGHTS WERE BAD WHEN VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER AND IT ALSO HAD THE WRONG INSPECTION STICKER. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME 10,000 DOLLARS FOR THE VEHICLE BUT IT WAS ONLY WORTH 25.00 PLUS MY TRADE IN. AND THEY PLUS CONNED ME OUT OF 600.00 DOLLARS EXTRA. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN THREATENED BY THE COMPANY IF I TELL ANYONE THEY WILL SHUT MY CAR OFF PERMANENTLY FOR HARASSMENT NOW FOR 9 MONTHS. NOW, I BELIEVE I HAVE BEEN FRAUDED AND BLACKMAILED. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM! *TR

UNWANTED ABS ACTIVATION AND INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES DURING LOW-SPEED BRAKE APLLICATION IN THE 2000 CHEVY ASTRO VAN

I HAVE A 2000 FULL SIZE CHEVROLET 1500 CONVERSION VAN. THE CONVERSION WAS APPARENTLY DONE BY GLADIATOR. THE DRIVERS CAPTAIN SEAT BRACKET BROKE, AND REPAIRED IN APRIL 2000. IT IS BROKEN AGAIN. WHEN I TURNED LEFT THE SEAT AND I FELL TO THE RIGHT. THIS CREATED ADDITIONAL STRESS ON THE REMAINING BRACKET. THE REPEATED FAILURE OF THIS BRACKET IS OF GREAT CONCERN TO ME AS I AM NOT SECURE IN A SEAT WITH A BROKEN BRACKET AND IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT MY PASSENGERS WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH A POTENTIAL MISSLE AS MY SEAT WITH ME STRAPPED IN WOULD UNDOUBTEDLY FLY ABOUT THE CABIN OF THE VAN. I AM TAKING IT TO CLASSIC CHEVY IN MENTOR, OHIO TOMORROW TO LEARN IF THEY ARE GOING TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE. I HAVE HAD MANY VANS AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO HAVE SEAT BRACKETS REPAIRED. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND I AM VIRTUALLY THE ONLY PERSON TO DRIVE IT. I AM OF AVERAGE SIZE AND IN MY MID 50'S. JUST SO YOU KNOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED. *AK
