1991 CHEVROLET CAPRICE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WAS DRIVING IT HOME. THE CONTACT WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND HEARD A LOUD ROAR, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, AND BEFORE THE CONTACT COULD APPLY THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE STRUCK A BUILDING. MY CAPRICE CLASSIC WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND HAD NOT BEEN MOVED FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR. AFTER AN HOUR FROM MY CAR BEING MOVED, MY CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE DASH WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES WHEN I WAS MADE AWARE THAT MY CAR WAS EVEN ON FIRE FROM A NEIGHBORHOOD KID. I QUICKLY TRIED TO PUT IT OUT AND DID SO. BY THE TIME IT HAD DIED OUT AND THE SMOKE WAS GONE, THE ENTIRE MIDDLE AND PARTIAL LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH HAD MELTED TO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. CONSUMER HAD CANCELED CRUISE CONTROL AT 70 MPH TO COME OFF THE INTERSTATE, CONSUMER CAME TO A PARKING LOT AND PARKED VEHICLE, WHEN GETTING BACK IN VEHICLE AND PUTTING IT IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE HIT A BUILDING AT 70 MPH, THERE WAS ONE INJURY, CONSUMER FEELS THE CRUISE CONTROL GOT STUCK. *SLC

ANTI- LOCK BRAKES FAILED, CAR SKIDDED TEN FEET THEN ROLLED ABOUT TWENTY FEET INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER CAR THAT HAD PANIC STOPPED. AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. BUMPER WENT UNDER OTHER CAR CRUSHING MY CAR TO THE WINDSHIELD. BOTH CARS WERE THE SAME SIZE SO BUMPERS SHOULD BE AT SAME HEIGHT. THE OTHER CAR IS A EARLY NINETIES LINCOLN TOWN CAR.*AK

OWNER STARTED THE ENGINE, PUT VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF IN FULL SPEED, CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE ABOUT 3 FEET AWAY. MINOR DAMAGES WAS DONE TO THE BUMPER. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *AK
