MY 2009 AVALANCHE LTZ HAS A DASH THAT HAS CRACKED COMPLETELY IN HALF, PLUS IS CRACKING ON THE AIRBAG PASSENGER SURROUND. MY CONCERN OTHER THAN SHRAPNEL IN THE EVENT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS IS LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHEN THE DASH PIECES LODGE THEMSELVES BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE DASH HAS NEVER BEEN ABUSED OR DAMAGED BY THE OWNER IN ANY WAY, AND THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. ALMOST WITHOUT EXCEPTION I HAVE NOTICED THIS DEFECT IN EVERY TRUCK OF THIS TYPE. PLEASE HAVE AN AGENT CONTACT ME IF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IS NECESSARY. MY LOCAL DEALER WANTS $1600 TO REPAIR THEIR DEFECT.

TAKATA RECALL GM RECALL 49151 FOR FAULTY AIRBAGS IS UNABLE TO BE PERFORMED N MY VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP DUE TO PARTS BEING UNAVAILABLE IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE! I'VE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT EVERY 3-4 MONTHS SINCE APRIL 2016 WITH NO AVAIL. RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED BY ME JULY 2016! I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO BE HAD OR ORDERED IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. I WANT IT DONE!

MAJOR DASH CRACKING ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON BOTH SIDES OF THE DASH HUMP. 3-4" CRACK ON THE LEFT OF THE HUMP, APPROX 6-8" ON THE RIGHT. ANOTHER CRACK STARTING AT THE MIDDLE OF THE DASH, GOING THROUGH THE DASH MOUNTED SPEAKER OPENING FROM THE FRONT VENTS ALL THE WAY TO THE WOOD TRIM ABOVE THE RADIO (6-8"). ANOTHER CRACK TO THE FRONT LEFT OF THE AIRBAG, APPROX 2" LONG. RATTLING ON EVERY LITTLE BUMP. I BELIEVE THIS HAS ALSO COMPROMISED SOME OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS THAT CONTROL THE DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS. SEVERAL OF THE CRACKS WERE NOTICED IN THE MORNING BEFORE MOVING THE VEHICLE AND WERE NOT SEEN THE PREVIOUS NIGHT.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CHEVROLET DEALER WAS CONTACTED (FERMAN CHEVROLET TARPON SPRINGS, 43520 US HWY 19 N, TARPON SPRINGS, FL 34689; (727) 934-5789) AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE CHEVROLET MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-222-1020. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

DASH PLASTIC CRACKING AROUND PASSENGER AIRBAG AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. SHARP PIECES STICKING UP. CCAR WASH PERSONEL CAN GET CUT WHEN WIPING DASH DURING AUTO CLEANING AND DETAILING.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKING IN THE TYPICAL LOCATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED. ABOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND PASSENGER AIR BAG. I AM WORRIED THIS MAY CAUSE INJURY IF INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE DASH MAY SPLINTER AND BECOME A PROJECTILE.

THE SECOND CRACK IN THE DASH IS IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGERS SEAT AND RUNS INTO THE AIRBAG. ALL GM MODEL SUV/TRUCKS FROM 2007-2013 ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY GM WILL NOT RECALL THIS ISSUE. IF EITHER OF MY AIR BAGS HAVE TO DEPLOY, WE COULD GET KILLED BY THE SHARP CRACKED SHARDS BUSTING OUT OF THE DASH AND STABBING US. I BOUGHT THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE WHEN MY FIRST BORN SON WAS 1 MONTH OLD BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING A LITTLE HONDA CIVIC AND WANTED SOMETHING SAFER FOR MY CHILD. DASH BOARD BECOMES UN ATTACHED BETWEEN MOLDS, CAUSING THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AREA TO BOUNCE AND BECOME UNSTABLE WHICH MAY LEAD TO IMPROPER DEPLOYMENT SINCE THE SHIFTING AND DETERIORATION OF SUPPORTIVE MOLDINGS AND PLASTICS CAN NOT SUPPORT THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG.
