General Motors. LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Chevrolet 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD Medium-Duty trucks. The brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause an electrical short-circuit.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 6500 Commercial Vehicle. The contact stated that the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V266000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) was previously performed on the vehicle. The contact stated while the driver was driving 55-60 MPH uphill, he noticed smoke coming from underneath the driver's side of the hood. The contact stated that the driver depressed the brake pedal several times, but the brake pedal went down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. The driver veered to the side of the road and allowed the vehicle to roll to a stop. The messages "Engine Power Reduced" and "Service Emission System" were displayed. The driver exited the vehicle and noticed that there was fire coming from underneath the driver's side of the hood, by the firewall. Sudden catastrophic fuel system failure due to contamination fuel and fuel filter bypass, yes it is available to inspect. Truck shut off during operations and did not restart, the vehicle is at the dealership to replace High pressure fuel pump, lines, fuel rail and injectors. After the the truck died there was a message in the message center "water in fuel, service". The truck never sputtered, no loss of power or engine light. No codes were thrown either.
