The 2010AUDIQ5 carries 122 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 3 crashes, 0 fires, 2 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2010 Q5 is air bags with 50 filings, followed by fuel/propulsion system (28) and electrical system (7). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 4 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 9 investigation files overlapping the 2010 Q5. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

20230723UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Have water leaking on the driver side roof and upon Dealer servicing - it was due to faulty or worn out seals on the front windscreen- and even though the windscreen is not damaged - Audi recons it has to be replaced at customer cost including the windshield that is in good condition since to cover their inability to take the glass out w/o breaking it. In public forums I see quite a few such fixes enough to warrant this should be investigated and tagged under recalls

Fuel pump developed cracks and is leaking terribly. Looks like someone put a temporary seal when recalled (likely due to unavailability of parts at time).

20230418FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Fuel vapor in cabin. Research indicated need to inspect fuel pump. Removed inspection cover and found fuel puddled all around pump and noted fuel would re-plenish through apparent micro-fractures in the plastic pump housing when wiped away. Crack not visible but fuel obviously coming through housing after being wiped. I am 4rth owner. NTSB site and Audi site shows no open recalls. CarFax received on purchase of the car shows no open recalls but at the same time shows no evidence of Audi or VW service since the recall was issued in 2016 (very strange). Very similar description in incident #11353734. Image and video taken of the pump housing and fuel surrounding it.

20230314FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

The contact owns a 2010 Audi Q5. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart after refueling. Additionally, a fuel odor was detected while driving. The vehicle was towed to the residence, where an independent mechanic diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the dealer had previously replaced the fuel pump; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

I HAVE A 2010 AUDI Q5 THAT IS LEAKING GAS ON THE GROUND WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING WHILE SITTING STILL OR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.. I REMOVED THE PASSENGER REAR SEAT WHICH IS DIRECTLY ON TOP OF WHERE THE LEAK IS COMING FROM. I THEN REMOVED THE ACCESS PANEL FOR THE FUEL PUMP . GAS WAS SITTING ON TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP IN PUDDLES. I DECIDED TO START THE CAR WITH THE ACCESS PANEL REMOVED TO SEE WHERE EXACTLY THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM AND HOW BIG OF LEAK IT WAS. UPON STARTING THE ENGINE GAS SPRAYED DIRECTLY OUT OF THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP'S WHITE PLASTIC DOME TOP, NOT THE FUEL PUMP FLANGE. PERIMETER. IT IS A LARGE LEAK, IT SPRAYS LIKE A GEYSER UNHINDERED HITTING THE TOP OF THE ACCESS PANEL AND RUNNING ONTO THE GROUND. YOU CAN SEE VISIBLE CRACKS IN THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP. MY GAS MILEAGE WHICH WAS 21 MPG PER TANK IS NOW14 MPG ON LAST FILL UP SO MY GUESS IS ABOUT 7 GALLONS OF GAS LEAKS ONTO THE GROUND PER FILL UP. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION AND THE FUMES ARE OVERWHELMING I
