The 2017ALFA ROMEOGIULIA carries 139 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 17 crashes, 0 fires, 6 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2017 GIULIA is electrical system with 30 filings, followed by fuel/propulsion system (30) and engine (27). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 7 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 1 investigation file overlapping the 2017 GIULIA. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

I am filing a complaint in regard to recall 93c for my 2017 Alfa Romeo. The dealership/manufacturer has failed to provide me with a fix, parts or even just a loaner car due to the safety hazard. My car has gone limp mode several times on the highway at speeds of 70mph. This is unacceptable.

While driving my Alfa Romeo, the vehicle experienced a significant malfunction involving the engine and power-train system. The vehicle will not accelerate properly and repeatedly goes into limp mode, resulting in a sudden and severe loss of power, especially while driving on the highway. The engine warning light is illuminated, and the vehicle hesitates, jerks, and fails to respond. This malfunction created a direct safety risk to me and other drivers on the road. The loss of acceleration occurred while traveling at highway speeds, making it difficult to merge, maintain traffic flow, or avoid surrounding vehicles. The problem has been reproduced multiple times, and the vehicle consistently enters limp mode when attempting to accelerate. The issue has been observed during normal driving conditions and does not appear to be a one-time event. The vehicle and its components are available for inspection by the manufacturer, dealer, insurance representative, or any required agency. At th

The vehicle is subject to the active and known Safety Recall 93C (Low-Pressure Fuel Pump). My vehicle is experiencing a total loss of motive power and engine stall, which is the exact safety hazard described in the recall. Furthermore, the initial failure of the low-pressure fuel system appears to have caused secondary consequential damage to the expensive High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP), and the vehicle is also exhibiting a severe and recurring electrical defect (new battery dying, random dash warnings/brake lights flashing). The manufacturer, FCA/Stellantis (Customer Care Case #XXX...), and the dealer are engaging in a runaround to deny basic safety recall provisions: 1. Refusal to Cover Consequential Damage: FCA Customer Care stated that if the issue is 'not the 93C recall then it will all be customer pay,' which conflicts

Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a concern regarding the handling of reimbursement under Safety Recall 93C (NHTSA 25V-586) for my 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. On March 11, 2025, several months before the recall was announced, I paid $3,995.59 out of pocket at Foreign Cars Italia Charlotte to repair severe driveability issues, including: Loss of engine power while driving âElectronic throttle controlâ and âcheck engineâ warnings Difficulty accelerating, reduced fuel flow, and stalling risk These symptoms are directly consistent with the defect described in Safety Recall 93C, which involves the Fuel Delivery Module (FDM) and the risk of power loss due to heat-related fuel flow restriction. I recently received a recall notification letter for the 93C issued in September 2025, I contacted Alfa Romeo Customer Care and filed for reimbursement (Reference Number [XXX]). Despite providing full documentation â including the paid invoice and recall notice â my claim was d
The oil pump is defective and is a known issue at Alfa Romeo which causes the car restrict function which could result in loss of control of the vehicle.
