ON JULY 13, 2007, SUBURBAN MANUFACTURING COMPANY (SUBURBAN) NOTIFIED NHTSA THAT CERTAIN GLASS TOP SEALED BURNER RANGES AND COOK TOPS CONTAIN A BURNER TUBE CONNECTOR THAT MAY HAVE NOT BEEN FULLY TIGHTENED. SHOULD A BURNER TUBE RELEASE A CONCENTRATED AMOUNT OF NATURAL GAS AND AN IGNITION SOURCE IS PRESENT, A FIRE MAY OCCUR. SUBURBAN STATED THESE UNITS WERE PRODUCED BETWEEN AUGUST 22, 2006 AND NOVEMBER 22, 2006. ON JANUARY 29, 2009 RMD MAILED THE 8 REMAINING VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS TO ASK HOW THIS EQUIPMENT WAS SOLD. GULF STREAM COACH FILED A DEFECT REPORT (09V-135) FOR THEIR UNITS THAT WERE USED IN NEW MOTOR VEHICLES. 4 COMPANIES RESPONDED THAT THEIR UNITS WERE EITHER FOR PERSONAL VEHICLES OR NEVER INSTALLED INTO NEW MOTOR VEHICLES. A COMPANY LISTED AS SMC SLS SAMPLE COMPRISED OF 7 SAMPLE UNITS ONLY. A TOTAL OF 3 COMPANIES (REPRESENTING A TOTAL OF 5 RECALLED COOKTOPS) WERE UNREACHABLE AND COULD NOT BE CONTACTED BY PHONE OR EMAIL EITHER.
