Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER:LPG SYSTEMS:TANK VALVE/GAUGE filed January 10, 2011

NHTSA complaint #835859 (ODI reference 10375413) concerns a 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI and was filed on January 10, 2011. The owner reports the failure occurred on December 4, 2010. The vehicle had 53,029 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to Pennsylvania based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as equipment:recreational vehicle/trailer:lpg systems:tank valve/gauge, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same GMC ENVOY DENALI cohort independently describe similar equipment:recreational vehicle/trailer:lpg systems:tank valve/gauge failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

I HAVE A 2006 ENVOY DENALI WITH 53000 MILES, ABOUT 4 WEEKS AGO, I WAS FILING UP WITH GAS, I ALWAYS FILL UP AT 1/2 TANK SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 06. AFTER FILLING THE GAS GAGE WENT TO EMPTY, AND THEN WOULD GO TO FULL, THEN BACK TO EMPTY. IT DID THIS FOR ABOUT 5 MIN AND THEN WENT TO EMPTY. NOW THE GAGE DO NOT READ CORRECTLY AT ALL, I USE THE TRIP TO KEEP TRACK OF MY MILEAGE AS THE REMAINING MILES FUEL GAGE DOES NOT REGISTER EITHER..... *TR
