Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SHIFT PATTERN INDICATOR filed November 10, 2010

NHTSA complaint #825033 (ODI reference 10365277) concerns a 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE and was filed on November 10, 2010. The owner reports the failure occurred on November 7, 2010. The vehicle had 92,000 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to Nevada based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as power train:manual transmission:shift pattern indicator, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET TAHOE cohort independently describe similar power train:manual transmission:shift pattern indicator failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

THE SHIFT LEVER POSITION INDICATOR LOCATED IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DOES NOT ILLUMINATE AT VARIOUS TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AND OFF FOR A WHILE AND I DECIDED TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE. I FOUND A SIMILAR RECALL FOR THIS MODEL YEAR VEHICLE ON YOUR WEBSITE, BUT GM REFUSES TO COVER THE DEFECT ON MY VIN. I RECENTLY ALMOST HIT SOMEONE BEING IN THE WRONG GEAR. THIS MATCHES A PREVIOUS RECALL ID OF 05V055000. *TR
